bluesman
Question on a Seven with a 210HP duratec engine, and 5 speed. I am going to put 13" wheels and tires on the car. I need to choose between 6" front and rear, or 6" front and 8" rears. It will be mostly used for street, with occasional possible track days. It is important that the rear and of the car stays lively and playful so that I can break it loose when I want to, but I don't want it to be too crazy. I am afraid that the 8" rears will take some of the fun , drifting, throttle steer out of the car. Thoughts?? Davemk1
I would think the tire brand/model/compound would factor in as much as the width. Do you know what tires you will be using? dave
bluesman
Tires would be Avon ZZS, 185/55R-13 are the 6", and 255/55R-13 are the 8"
SK400
I have the ZZR 185/55R-13 and 255/55R-13 setup on my 210 HP R400 and it works well although you may have to get a bit of toe-out to increase front end corner entry grip or stiffen very slightly the rear sway bar to get the car turning when really pushing it. With this setup, and tire selection, you should be in very good shape.

Are you able to dial in your car while still being able to induce oversteer when wanted?
Kitcat
My X-flow Cat ran great on Toyo RA1's. I used 15/205/55 all around. They were decent in the rain when they had tread. After they wore down to being "slicks", they were terrific track tires. And since I only drove on sunny days, they continued to be great street tires. Since they are sticky, you will get lots more debris tossed into the cockpit than with harder compounds.

MichaelD
I have heard that the RA1s are also great turf tires as well.

Kitcat
Good call MichaelD. Yes, the RA1's did allow me to fully exploit Caterham's little known "Farmall" upgrade that I made to my Cat. They definitely complimented my driving style!
