MHKflyer52 Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Hello all, Well I was surprised to see a new web site banner today. I am not sure if I like it as much as the old one as of yet. I do like the USA7s.org a marque-inclusive site for owners & enthusiasts. It just seems to need something on the right side maybe a front view of a seven or something to that affect. Well I guess I will get use to it but the original did let you know you arrived at the USA7s site with just a glance. Just my opinion.
Al N. Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Martin-Thanks for the feedback. One thing that we were trying for was a banner that expanded with the width of the browser window. By having a photo take up most of the banner (esp. the right side), this couldn't be achieved easily...note how current banner fades to grey...which through the miracle of Ebrahimi, repeats to occupy full screen width — no matter how wide you make the window. I gave my art director a bunch of photos from the 7-7-7 meet to choose from and he picked the shot from Jalopnik of Norm B. chasing me in the wet on the Dragon. Camera car is Michael D.'s Cat. I happen to love this shot, as it evokes some of my fondest memories of that event and shows our cars in their element -- twisties. Don't worry, I'm sure we'll change things again. Look forward to more input from others -- pro and con.-Al P.S. I noticed that I had to reset my cache to get the new pic at home (just in case anyone is wondering what we're talking about).
slomove Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Does this forum software have a feature to suppress all graphics, e.g. banners and pictures? I mean, to make it less - ahem - obvious in the office? I know Blatchat has that. Gert
Deman USA Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 is that my SR27 in the background. it looks like the round tail lights, and the yellow temp. plate?
slngsht Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 is that my SR27 in the background. it looks like the round tail lights, and the yellow temp. plate? Not sure... I think it's Al's car. I know it's not mine - it fits on the screen
PAULDEMAN Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Not sure... I think it's Al's car. I think you're right...the rims don't look like ours and our tail lights are mounted lower than it looks like in the picture.

slngsht Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Maybe Dino and I should read next time before we write I was being so tactful
scannon Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I think the new banner is great! :hurray: Change it every so often just to keep us on our toes and provide some variety. You can put up some front end shots next time.
MHKflyer52 Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Hi Al and All, I see what you mean by the rightside fits to the screen as the computer I am using this am only has a 17" screen and it (the banner) fits the screen better and dose not look streched out. I guess the large gray area on the right of the banner is just one of those things that happens with a large 22" screen an I can live with that.
stevet Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I kind of miss the old banner, but then it was my photo The new one looks good - kind of like it's raining 7's. Maybe you could run a duotone (using the blues as a base) as a more 'discrete' version?
solder_guy Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I happen to love this shot, as it evokes some of my fondest memories of that event and shows our cars in their element -- twisties. Best shot is that solo of you on the twisties by killboy. It's iconic! :hurray: I would vote for it over the current banner pic. Rob
