Vovchandr
"The car was deigned from the on set to be a road car and a very good one. The men who architected this car insisted that it should be the type of car that can be driven from London to the South of France in relative comfort. Very different from other "drivers cars" such as Lotus 7 or Ferrari F40" Clip starting at relative point, but watch the whole thing. CarlB
All three cars are very different and I don't think you can compare them. All three are really great at what they were intended to do. Everything has trade-offs. I can't afford two of these cars, but I have the one I want. I think the Caterham is more fun. I like being connected to the road. I've realized that the 7 really is the penultimate car for what I was always looking for, which is essentially a motorcycle in a car. There are "better" cars, there are faster cars, there are better performance cars but few if any provide the visceral go kart experience of driving the 7 with Aero. Motorcycle riders refer to cars as "cages" because of how the cockpit separates/protects you from the elements as well acts as an actual cage around you. I don't think that term is applicable to a 7. Even an Atom has a chassis that sits high and makes you feel more enclosed than what we are used to. Edit: As far as comparison, you can definitely compare them, everybody has preferences. F40 to F1 are a lot closer to each other in comparison than they are to a 7. Edited March 3, 2021 by Vovchandr
Lightguy
Gordon Murray is said to have used the Acura NSX as the standard for developing the F1. With a teensy bit more power of course If Honda had only listened to Senna and added 100 HP from the start (ignoring the then Japanese mfg's "gentleman's agreement" of 300 max) I'm convinced the car would have achieved supercar status.
