Croc
I saw someone yesterday, possibly a Caterham dealer close to Redmond WA, and he wondered if it was just another case of a car being lapped or about to be lapped?

I highly doubt that, but I'm not sure, as I was distracted by someone waving a blue flag furiously at me for some reason.
Darren
KnifeySpoony wayyy too modest, folks. This was the order for much of the day, and he was on ZZS rather than the stickier Toyos I was on - leaving me vowing to lose 35lbs and shed my headlights next time around!! Fun times. KnifeySpoony
It was a fun day for sure. My best of the day:
Croc
Its always good fun to have a track tag buddy to play with! Hope this gets others to come out and play with you. Very nice driving - quite lively in the rear end for you. It was an interesting video to study in light of your brake pad/bias thread. Is Sonoma really that bumpy a surface? One day in the next two years I will get to run there. Also what is the lap timing app you are using on your phone please.

Sonoma is bumpy for sure, the surface is terrible in places. It's super fun though, very technical and rollercoastery; perfectly suited for a 7 to embarrass more powerful cars. The rear is only lively when I'm hard on the throttle and getting power oversteer. It's very planted and confidence-inspiring on corner entry and mid corner at neutral throttle. I have the very stiff race-rate rear springs, which everyone says are too stiff, so presumably that's hurting my traction. Also I'm on ZZS as well. I'm sure these spring rates are better suited to stickier tires. I'm using RaceChrono for timing. Edited February 19, 2022 by KnifeySpoony

I'm sure these spring rates are better suited to stickier tires. I'm using RaceChrono for timing. Ok the springs make sense now relative to the bumpy tarmac. The UK use those springs with ZZS which tends to be the control tire of choice for most of the race series. One or two series will allow ZZR but its not the common tire. However, the track surfaces are mostly smooth there with the exception of Brands Hatch. So your springs are fine but ill suited to Sonoma but you could work around that with either softening rear tire pressures, disconnecting rear anti-roll bar (I bet you have already done this), or moving to one of the two ZZR compounds for that circuit. KnifeySpoony
Bumps or no bumps, the 420R with roller barrels can easily overwhelm the rear ZZS just about anywhere. That's one of the things I'm enjoying about the car. It's so different than my Exige was. Much more playful. My plan is to learn the car on the ZZS and wait until my lap times plateau before "upgrading" to ZZR. Given that I drive the car to the track, I'll be going with the harder of the two compounds. KnifeySpoony
Went back to Sonoma on Sunday- broke into the 46s, still on ZZS. I'm amazed how capable this car is. I keep pushing it harder and it delivers. I think the car is capable of solid 45s on ZZS, probably faster in expert hands. I changed my ride height (lower overall, and with less rake), which I think helped. It was at very high ride height before.
