Jbrueckh
Making arrangements to pick up a S2, which his completely apart. Looking at suspect chassis drawings online, it looks like I can fit the chassis in a 10 foot uhaul box trailer it I raise up one end . Anyone have any experience using a 10ft uhaul box truck to move a chassis? Alternatively, does anyone have a solid dimension for the overall length of the bare chassis? IamScotticus
do you have a spare tire tire carrier on the back? My minimum trailer size is 5x11. without nose cone and wings, engine, etc, I sure you can fit it in 10' even if you had to cross diagonally some. But there is a universal law about trailers, always get more than you think you need. Edited June 16, 2022 by IamScotticus
7Westfield
my pre-lit Westfield measures about 126-127 without spare tire carrier, but with nose on I'd think diagonal, on it's side, would be fine Edited June 16, 2022 by 7Westfield
Croc
An S2 is 11 feet long. If this is just the chassis without all the stuff bolted to it then I bet you could put it diagonally on its side and make it fit. SENC
I can grab a real measurement tomorrow if you need one, but I believe full chassis length will be just shy of 10'. Regardless, I think you could fit it. Heck you could take a pickup truck and get everything in the bed and just strap the chassis down to the top of the tailgate and top of the cab! Plenty have transported a bare chassis just on a roof rack!
Jbrueckh
Thanks for the replies very helpful. My trip is 1700 miles one way , by myself, so my thought for a box truck is for security. Regards, JB
IamScotticus
Security... get a padlock to lock the chains to the hitch or lock the ball latch. Do something if you will be making overnight stops. Just assume someone will try to steal your trailer. Experience.
SENC
10'3" from end of the tire carrier (sans the license plate light) to the tip of the front nose tab.
