fastg Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 I run RaceChrono on my phone in the Locost with an ODB2 and a Garman GPS receiver. The data it captures is amazing for the $19 outlay. But I have nothing to compare the data against. I generally review the data back at the hotel or when I get home, I do not chase lap times. With nothing to compare to I am a little confused. The data I find most useful is speed, lateral G and vertical G. So I start looking to braking, I want 1g braking in the hard braking spots. Then a decrease in vertical G with an increase in lateral G as I enter the corner, with the lateral G getting up to 1g cornering. That is easy to say but tough to do, but we are getting there is the slower corners. But on the faster corners say 60mph plus is it reasonable to still expect 1g cornering? Faster corners are one of my weak spots, but I am not sure what to aim for. Graham
KnifeySpoony Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 I see higher lateral g in higher speed corners actually. I think this is typical?
sf4018 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 G forces are fun but not much use, there are too many variables like track temp, braking down or up a hill, camber. Momentum cars like ours the exit is more important than braking, figure out the perfect exit first, then work backwards.
