Very Rare Lotus 7 Diorama by Classic Car Art - Update: Now on eBay

Hello everyone!

In case anyone is interested, I decided to list this on eBay with a low reserve. Please share with your Lotus 7 enthusiast friends!  Many thanks,  Ron.

Note: I'm very active on other marque forums and understand skepticysim about first-time posters, but please be assured and that I have a long history with Lotus and other classic cars. I was formerly a long time member of Lotus Ltd. and GGLC, and prior to getting out of the Lotus world after selling my '63 Elan S1, I owned in succession, an early Europa, an Eclat and an '87 Esprit Turbo. I'm currently looking to jump back in with an Elan+2 project, as soon as I find the right candidate. Leads appreciated!

This unique piece of collectible Lotus Art was commissioned in London for a good friend of mine who owned an identical 7 and raced it in vintage events on the West Coast. It was bequeathed to me after his untimely death in 2005. I've enjoyed owning it but have decided it's time for it to go to a more devout 7 fan. I'm thinking about listing it with Bonhams (see below) but that is a hassle for single lots so I thought I might ask for input from this group to gauge interest and asking price - and also for advice on any other sales venues I should try.

It seems that very few of these custom pieces change hands, but I found two that sold at major auction houses:

Photos below (reference wine bottle not included :)and I can send more if needed. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  • ElanS1 changed the title to Very Rare Lotus 7 Diorama by Classic Car Art - Update: Now on eBay

Hi: They are part of the diorama. The overall effect ads to the run-down look of the room, IMO. My close up shots probably over emphasize them.

Here's one (without the glass) that might be more typical of how one would view the piece.

Thanks, wdb. Not sold, I guess I missed a check box and eBay automatically relisted it before I cancelled it. I'm in discussion with another auction site and will let you and others who have expressed interest know once I figure out the best next step.

Best regards,

Ron

I had that car by Anson.

S2 1500 with Caterham paint, oversized Minilites, BDR seats, functional steering, live axle.

You were lucky to find one with the windscreen fitted properly.  They claimed to be 1:18 scale but the Ansons were much larger than the Kyoshos, which were more accurate.

The Anson is probably the largest 7 diecast available besides the Kyosho 1:12 BDR, which isn't Diecast but real aluminum panels attached to a plastic space frame.

I had to remove my Anson's seats and steering wheel and over spray them in black, an obvious detail Im surprised the diorama build omitted.

Plenty of these cars on Ebay
