slngsht Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Box- Call me when you have a wife and kids. -Al ring ring... Hello, Al? This is Mazda's family calling. Have you seen him?
yellowss7 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Jon, if you really want to announce on Saturday, I just checked and third heat announcer is still open. go to phillyscca.com, go to the discussion forum, go to solo, go to truck worker thread and post that you'll annouce third heat with your name, class and car number. tom
Boxologist Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Box- Call me when you have a wife and kids. -Al i have contengincies to prevent this. my secrets may get shared over the PA system. how could u go wrong. people usually have to pay for autoX and a show separately!
Boxologist Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 i'm registered. looks like i'll make the trip down saturday morning. hopefully i'll get there to catch most of heat 1. hopefully the weather will clear up early on friday so i can swap wheels tomorrow instead of saturday. martin, let me know if u want co-drive. Tom, thanks for the offer. Thats awesome. we can stop off at a supermarket and pick up food on the way back. i'll be able post for the Mr Mic slot later tinight. I see a few MkIII mr2s have joined the party.
yellowss7 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Jon, Who else will be joining us?? Al?? Martin??, Mazda?? I'll pick up the steaks. I live a straight shot about 20 minutes off of I-95. Or if you use the Pa/NJ turnpike. I'm 10 minutes from 476. Looks like we have a good turnout for D and E Mod. And I just got an email from one of the Scca guys who drove a Miata. He's starting a Locost, so we'll soon add another convert. Tom
slngsht Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I don't know what my status is for staying after.
MHKflyer52 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I am going to try to be their by 8:45am and spent the day but I will have to leave when it is over and get back for a family get together as my wife and I will be on the big bird to the west coast on Sunday at 6am. Boxologist I might take you up on that offer when I get their if they will let me so we will see.
yellowss7 Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Guys, don't forget that we are working third and running Last. There is no need to be there much earlier than 10:30-11:00 to tech and register. There is a walk thru after the end of heat 2. If you want to do the morning walk thru then 8:30 or so is good. There is no food on site, but there are some fast food joints within a short drive. I'll be there early as I set up grid. Martin, you are welcome to drive down with me but you'll have to back track a bit to Media. See you there. Tom
Al N. Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Are Jon and Tom having a few too many beers right now? Cause I want to see some pix and vids!:jester: (I spoke with Mazda and he told me the basics....Norm B. rules!)
yellowss7 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 Believe it or not, Jon JUST left at 9:30 PM!!! That boy is crazy!!! He put the top on with that cool easy in and I led him out to I-476. I figure he's got a 3 hour drive home. Ah youth!. We had dinner, previewed the video from his in car cam, my in car, and the external cam that I had a couple of spectators video our runs. Actually came out pretty well. I'll start to edit them now and see if I can get one of them up tonite. Great day. Nice to have 4 sevens at an event. Well three sevens and an eight!! Would have been even better if we could have had an orange one there as well. Martin (MHKflyer52) made it and co drove with Jon. Norm put on a clinic and soundly whooped all of us. Jon and Martin looped their car a few times. And Jon had a little contact with the timing equipment that caused a slight 30 minute delay. ( I've heard his name is now @##$% in the Philly region. Tom
slngsht Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 What a great day. Got to meet Tom and Martin for the first time today  Here is a vid of all my 5 runs. A bit unusual for me (and it's a good thing): I got in 5 clean runs, and my times improved with each run. The only exception MIGHT be between my 3rd and 4th run, when Box-mycarislightenoughtoglideoverthetimingequipment-ologist decided everybody could use a 30 minute break  http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/AberdeenAutox.wmv I had a great time.
slngsht Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 and here are some pics: Here, Tom is explaining to Jon that there are no cones between Aberdeen and Tom's house. They got into a huge shouting match, and finally Jon pulled out the map. Jon was banging on a spot on the map and yelling at Tom: "I know there is a cone there, because I've run over it twice :cuss: Right before I took the picture, they decided to look happy, so Al would show up at the next autocross http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1117137491_CIMG1880.JPG These are Norm and Martin. When Tom and Jon had the shouting match, Norm and Martin moved away so people wouldn't think they're all together http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/915151555_CIMG1881.JPG Well, alright, I only took 2 pics, but at least I had a good narrative
Boxologist Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 got in about a half hour ago. finished unloading Snake Bit and watched the end of tonights fight. today was a blast. had lots fun. got to talk with Norm for a bit, which is far more than at ToTD. great weather for driving. both Philly and NYC skylines looked great going home tonight. It was great seeing Mazda again, got my lucky hat back, so the car suffers no damage but i take out teh finish timer :boxing: my first runs went really well. started pushing it looking for a 40.x to kep pace with Mazda. Martin did a-ok as codriver. he got to have some fun in the spin machine:jester: Norm, well, is a beast out there. So's Sam Strano and I am glad i got to see at least one of his runs. Tom drove well as well. after dinner we watched the films of runs. There deintely some huge progress this year from me, i'm very proud that its coming together, even if i do continue to spin on some runs. Tom knows he can push a little bit more. just needs a nag in the passenger seat . Tom said to me hopefully we can get another autoX meet scheduled for next year thats a bit more central. We'll see about whats in next years schedules.
Boxologist Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 What a great day. Got to meet Tom and Martin for the first time today  Here is a vid of all my 5 runs. 'cause they couldn't get out while i was in the middle of the finish lane:banghead: , one of the Philly scca comes over and tells me "nothing to worry about, happens all the time, they have quick disconnects on the setup". THEN everyone is getting called over to look at my masterpiece...:grouphug:
yellowss7 Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Sorry for the delay in posting. I fell asleep while editing/:d
Boxologist Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 i'm up finally. i'll check out my vids again now with some sleep for this weekend. ONE of my spins was with ~55 secs remaining in Tom's video. for anyone informationmy hair is called a caterham cut!
yellowss7 Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Here's a couple of my runs from yesterday. Pretty easy to see where I lost time. Just needed a few more runs:banghead:
