jbcollier
Always best to start a new thread rather than tag on. Avoids confusion as to who is answering whom and makes future searching much easier. Adding an oil cooler doesn't really add capacity unless you go without a thermostat which is not recommended. The oil just basically sits there in the oil cooler circuit unless the oil is hot. So. if your engine doesn't actually have an oil temp issue, it won't work the way you'd like it to. Usually there is lots of room to widen a pan which will give you the capacity you're after and not affect your ground clearance. Baffling would be necessary. IamScotticus
Have an oil catch can going from the case breather. Fill ultil the excess blow out. It's normal to have some discharge on every run. Top off when you don't get discharge. Crude, yes. But a good visual to know it's full Edited August 16 by IamScotticus
7Westfield
IIRC xflows only take 4 quarts with a stock pan, so you're not horribly under filled I'd look for a used stock pan with pickup tube--if yours is modified, who knows what they did to the tube do you need front or rear sump? what oil are you using? you want ZDDP additive
CarlB
You actually want the oil up to 220 to 230 degrees. You need to get any water out. You need a cooler if the oil temperature goes over that. Why complicate and add something you do not need?
jbcollier
180°F is a nice temp. Oil is good and warm and flows well but not yet thinning too much. Water won't stick around very long at those temps, no problem there.
