KnifeySpoony Posted October 26, 2025 Author Posted October 26, 2025 Ok so I decided to buy the bosch unit from this site: https://spareto.com/products/bosch-fuel-feed-unit/0-580-200-182 Listed as compatible with the Euro OEM part, and the one of the few/only retailers that will ship to USA. FYI shipping was 40Euros. Will update with results later.

The gaskets stretch after use so they are no longer circular - they go oval. You can try to put it back to circle shape but I find they do not fit well afterwwards. Poor fit could mean leaky fuel, particularly on track. That was the cause for me nearly rolling at 110mph when the gasket failed and leaked fuel all over the outside rear tire which led to poo moment. However, you could feel lucky! 1
ashyers Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Croc called it. Change everything that remotely looks like a hose or gasket unless it's Teflon. The gaskets/hoses in the pump assembly will self destruct if removed from the tank and then reused. I'm not sure of what causes the reaction, but when I was warned of this years ago we did an experiment. We pulled all the rubber components from a fuel pump system and placed them on my desk over a weekend. Upon return they had all aged approximately 1000 years. Looked like massive ozone cracking/dry rot. Not a piece was remotely usable. They do just fine until removed from their environment. Andy 1
KnifeySpoony Posted October 27, 2025 Author Posted October 27, 2025 Interesting. I pulled the pump and gasket and replaced without apparent issue in June. Gasket was supple. No issues since then. Car is only 4 years old. But I will get another gasket to have on hand just in case.
