Exarkun1178 Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 One item that surprised me was the stated weight placard the placard showed 860kg. Until that moment I had been under the impression that the car weight a flexible 610kg That’s a significant difference 610 kg ≈ 1,345 lbs 860 kg ≈ 1,897lbs at 1900lbs, that’s damn close to my former Elise, and ~400lbs more than my old europa. The caterham web specs list the 610 and various publications reference that number. hp per ton certainly shifts a good bit. 610 kg: ≈ 508.2 hp/ton 860 kg: ≈ 360.5 hp/ton
BlakeJ Posted August 15 Posted August 15 It may be the gross vehicle weight rating listed on the placard. 1
CBuff Posted August 15 Posted August 15 My 2023 420 has the same plate. It was weighed for registration at 1300lbs. (Which sounds like a very round number to be truly accurate ). But that’s what I am going with. I do carry a bunch of crap with me and I have some lbs to myself. I did buy some cheap floor scales and will at some point weigh it myself.
Exarkun1178 Posted August 16 Author Posted August 16 (edited) Weekend at knockhill was great. enjoyed watching the academy series. My son loved the 310R group. interesting thing at Knockhill. On Saturday the drove the track counterclockwise. On Sunday they went clockwise Both turn ones was great. And looked like everyone got all 4 wheels off the ground in another (on Sunday). Meet up with the Caterham folks including Callie, who arranged much of the weekend for us. IMG_6264.mov Edited August 16 by Exarkun1178 3
Exarkun1178 Posted August 16 Author Posted August 16 (edited) We picked up the SV from Ian at Celtic caterham- only a few minutes from the circuit. Then headed out north west. had some wonderful one lane mt roads. we ended up passing through Glencoe at its most ominous. Looked like some thing out of lord of the rings (except for the few spots loaded with folks stopping to film the valley. once we came out the north end. The sky lifted and the sun came. Stayed the night at Ballachulish Set back out for Knockhil, but not before my son insisted we look for Nessie. Edited August 16 by Exarkun1178 4
williamwashere Posted August 16 Posted August 16 What an experience. I watched a bit of the race online, what a photo finish today. Seems like you need to hide a vinyl Nessie logo somewhere on the car when you get it! 1
Exarkun1178 Posted August 16 Author Posted August 16 Taking a closer look at I’m surprised that the rear calipers don’t allow quick pull out pads looking like I’ll need to remove the center calipers to swap pads.

The speedo can be driven by electronic signal from a GPS unit or a magnet pickup attached to a rotating surface like a drive shaft. These alternatives are more serviceable than a cable drive.
Exarkun1178 Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago Recieved a few more photos of the car today from Rob. 4

Exarkun1178 Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago Is this fender gap normal? Is it adjustable? I dont recall other Caterhams with 15" wheels having this kind of gap.

I dont recall other Caterhams with 15" wheels having this kind of gap. see what you get with people and a full tank in it. if the fender is centered with the chassis arch, there shouldn't be any error. FWIW, Cat typically builds in a swing arc that places the axle centers very forward. At this point, I'd say there's not a problem. Also the dampers could be set high for shipping. Wen u get it home, do a full load suspension height reset. Which is a question, does Cat tighten the suspension bolts or leave that for the end customer? At this point, as your 7 familiarity develops, you will see the small details most people don't notice. Although your car is very customized, it's built on a standard set of patterns Cat has made thousands of 7s on. It's very unlikely anything is out of place here. But you should have clams. Just sayin'. Edited 19 hours ago by IamScotticus 1 1

I was reading the hood lines as a trick of the harsh shop lights, I think it will look very different in sunlight. What in particular do you see as issues with the hood @Exarkun1178?
