Arrgg, "C'était un rendez-vous" is a Fraud!

I was always convinced that it was fake, although I thought for sure part of the fakeness involved speeding things up... There is one part in particular where it sounds like the Ferrari is FLYING, yet it's passing a car to its right at may be 30MPH faster.

Thats a cool vid, But I think the motor sounds are from a BMW bike, having worked at a Ferrari dealership many moons ago,and been lucky to get to drive early and the later models up to a 288, No Ferrari gearbox can be downshifted that quick the old fashion way. But then maybe I am getting it all wrong and it's paddle shifted. It's a welldone Fraud !!!!!

According to the website, they used a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB. I don't think they had paddle shifters back then. :nonod:

Hi scannon,

According to your first post it was a Mercedes Benz 450 sel, ( nice car), now it's a 275 gtb, ( even nicer car). So who was driving what !!!! I have never driven a 275 with paddles, you are correct.

The 450SEL was used to film the drive, the Ferrari 275GTB drove the same route a week later but was only used to make the soundtrack. Same driver for both cars.

A test drive was done by someone else in the Mercedes as shown in one of the clips on the website. That one is in French and probably would have been more interesting if I were able to understand it.

Where are the forum frenchies when you need them? Busa can probably help, but he's probably awestruck by the V8 chainsaw video I showed him earlier

You can't write that on this Forum! ... USA = English or Spanish

:toetap:

A thousand pardons, what was I thinking, just copying and pasting the title without first running it through a translator. :banghead:

Rendezvous by Claude Lelouch. (1976) Here's the video from youtube without going throught the premium blend website.

Arc de Triomphe, Les Champs-Elysées, Place de la Concorde, Musée du Louvre, Opéra national de Paris, and ends on the hill of Sacré Coeur.

After the Arc, halfway down the Les Champs-Elysées there's a first generation, yellow Celica!!

This from my friend in the UK (and 250 Ferrari owner!)

It's very interesting because the legend would have you believe that the film was shot from the 275 GTB driven by a French F1 driver...someone like Rene Arnoux...and that there was nothing fake about it.

Personally, though, I always had a few doubts about the sound track because it seems a bit faster than the picture. It's a long time since I did this, but I seem to remember that if you time the car down the Champs Elysee

from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place Concorde which is about 1200 metres its average speed is about 70mph. But the Ferrari sound track is flat out in fifth...150mph! There's quite a bit of tyre squeal too

which I don't think there would have been. Like most people I had no idea that the thing was filmed from a Merc and later dubbed with 'Rari.

I have always enjoyed that film - still do. I too suspect some "artistic license" may have been used in its creation, but I try to ignore it. I mean, in reality, a hot chick like Snow White never would have moved in with seven dwarf miners either, but I try not to nit-pick escapist films.
