Here is a great way to due your turn signals and brake lights if you are upgrading or re-wiring your seven.

I have used it on my car and it works great.

Part number : 91064050 One taillight bulb per side

Hope this helps anyone working on their car.

There are several companies that make these now (usually marketed to the motorcycle industry). I’ve been using the SmartBlink from Cadent Technologies for over three years and am happy with it. It isn’t as adjustable as the unit you showed in that pressing the button for any length of time results in the same 15 second countdown clock, but it does have the same press to cancel and hazard functionality. The clock doesn’t start until you take your foot off the brake, and will reset itself every time you touch the pedal, but 15 seconds can be a little short in traffic at a slow moving intersection.

SmartFlash is an optional feature that flashes your brakes three times in rapid succession before going solid upon every application. I went with this option and hooked the flasher up to my roll bar mounted brake light. It really seems to get the attention of the car approaching from behind -- a good thing in a se7en :)

I went with this type of system because I wanted to simplify the dash (no more hazard switch needed) and I wanted pushbuttons on the steering wheel for the turn signals.

I use the Signal Dynamics module. Works a treat.

Replace the Caterham indicator switch with a single pole double throw momentary, then and do a little wiring change here.

one push on

one push off

if left on, it blinks 5 times then shuts off

push and hold for a second or so and it blinks for 20 times before shutting off.

Oops, didn't look before typing. The Speedway motors module is the same unit as the Signal Dynamics. I didn't know they sold through distributors.

  • 7 years later...

I ordered the Signal Dynamics Self-Canceling Turn Signal Module 01501

But then someone posted on my other post that it would be better to use the

Signal Dynamics Pentastar-XP Turn Signal/Brake Light System Module 01017

So I cancelled my order till I posted this.

I don't want to figure out all the wiring options. Can I still use the diagram posted earlier in this topic with a small mod like adding the brake wire or will I have to re figure out all the wiring?

Sorry, they posted I should use the 1007 Signal Dynamics Penta-Star Turn Signal Control Module. I honestly don't see the difference between the two Penta units so if someone knows, let me know.

I am trying to figure this out.

Signal Dynamics has three different flavors of the turn signal module. Go here: http://www.signaldynamics.com/instructions/ and scroll down to "Turn Signal & Conversion & System Modules"

The 01501 (aka Turn Signal Module) is just the turn signal module, no interaction with the brake pedal or running lights.

The 01007 (aka Penta-Star module) adds the brake pedal input feature

The 01017 (aka Penta-Star XP module) adds the low beam input (& brake pedal input).
