Al N.
Well, since it was in the high 40s when I got home from running errands this AM, I thought I'd try to start the Cat and maybe get it out for a short blat. With just a one application of Pyroil starting fluid (a precaution when the car's literally cold), it fired on the the second or third twist of the key. After letting it idle while I brought the tire pressures down to 21 all around (for now) and putting the foam filter and bonnet back, I waved goodbye to the family and set out. First thing that I noticed was that my left eye hasn't gotten used to the wind yet, and started tearing up almost immediately. At the end of the summer, I can drive for up to an hour with no glasses, goggles or helmet, no prob. But really, the overriding sentiment about my 30 minute loop was "Damn, this car is fun." Fast too, though didn't approach WOT or redline...don't want to push things this early in the season. When I get back from vacation, the car is going to have a once over before making an appearance with the NY chapter of Lotus Ltd. at the NY Auto show and then my friends' downtown clothing store. I'll take it out just in time for Carlisle. Why did I put this up for sale again? Right now, I'm wondering that myself...I secretly think Mazda and Jon C. (Boxologist) and others are c-blocking prospective buyers to keep Orange in the Navarro garage. :jester: Oh well, we'll see what happens over the next few months...again, damn are Se7ens fun! Kitcat
As you noted in the for-sale section, it's a $65K car. Assuming you let it go for $40K, the depreciation hit has occurred. So the buyer can anticipate years of (exhilarating) driving and then selling it for not much less (or possibly more???) than the purchase price. Are you listening prospective buyers? slngsht
I can't believe you're actually parting with it (believe it when I see someone else post pics of their new "orange"). I know it's a perfectly rational decision, but emotionally I'd have a really hard time letting go. Driving it won't help either.

JBH
Al won't drive it at the track, but for those that will, the Superlight R is an awesome track car. I spent last weekend at Roebling Road running down 911s, 944s, M3s, Elises, Exiges, Mustangs, and Spec Miatas. With the Zetec, it is also remarkably reliable and simple to maintain. Kitcat
When considering a Superlight last year I asked the owner how it compared to the current version of the Lotus Elise at the track. He said it was about 4 seconds a lap faster. In an environment where .2 of a second is considered a lot, 4 seconds is huge . JBH: How does it compare to high end Porsches and 'Vettes-the cars that typically dominate track days? My modestly powered Caterham is about midpoint between the Miatas and Vette's at the track. I finally have a decent engine tune and some good tires so we'll see how it does this season.
Boxologist
Al, will u be at the Autoshow? If u are i'd like to stop by.
JBH
I ran even with a ZO6 at Roebling despite being limited to 120 mph. The only cars that passed me in my group were a track-prepared 997 Twin Turbo and a highly modified 993 TT. In the hands of a good driver, a ZO6 should be faster. Running in the red group at a PCA event at VIR's South Course I was faster than everyone except one 997 GT3. Those are very good cars. On full course, I was equal to a F355 Challenge car but couldn't stay with the GT3s and high hp Porsches. I don't understand why a Seven is so much faster than the Elise and Exige. From what I read about these cars, I had the impression they excelled at the track.
