Rob,

Which model did you buy? Are some of their lifts from China?

I almost bought one from America'a Pride but the Greg Smith website says they went TU awhile back.

When I bought my first pickup at 15 it was exactly like your daughters. Mine was originally white, I painted it red rebuilt the 350 put a stereo in and wheels on it and hit the road. The interior wasnt as nice as yours though. It had an indian blanket on it for 3 years. Then it meet a phone pole. I rebuilt it again and drove it for a year and then sold it.

I sure had some good times in that truck back in the day. Got my first 3 tickets in that truck. All at the same time. Exhibition of acceleration, drag racing and no insurance card. I told the cop it wasnt me but he didnt believe the story.

We bought the two post HR8000 which fit the garage perfectly ... anchored in concrete.

Yes .. their lifts are from China .. although the manufacturer is a US company.

See this page for Lift Comparison Info.

Also check out the Testimonials Page for more pics of people's garages.

I just got the 67 PU ready for my 16yr old daughter to drive to school. Actually did work on this truck (except for exterior paint). She's driven less than 10 times and already put a pretty good scratch over the driver's left rear fender:banghead:

Jeez, kids are really pampered nowadays. I thought I was kind of generous that I gave our 14 year old Escort wagon to my son until it falls apart. He is not excited about that car but he keeps it in some working order because a lousy drive may be still better that a good walk.

Anyway, if he wants to have a nice ride he better makes some money on his own. I am paying already for his college, i.e. 4 years at the UCSB resort.....

Mondo, where did you get your cabinets? They look great! I'm getting ready to organize our garage soon and cabinets look like the way to go.

Got these cabinets a couple months ago.... can't really do much work in the garage but it looks nice.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread....

Well the truck is really "our" truck. I wanted to put some metal around her the first year, just in case. I had the truck, unfinished, for quite some time. More of an excuse to fix it up.

I intend to get her a little used car with good gas mileage in a year or so.... something to commute to college. The truck has an overdrive transmission but still really sucks the fuel.

The cabinets are from "Cal-Garage", out of Fresno. There about the best built I found around here. And right now all these type businesses are really hurting so the price was very good.

Here is the shop which I am sneaking up on equiping. Today I picked up the bolts to install a Hunter alignment lift which has had added a two post lift. It is not nearly as pretty as the other shown but only cosy 1k, and paint will make a big difference. It will be installed soon as the gib crane can be freed up. The other addition is a frame jig that weighs nearly as much as a 7, 10' x 4'. Pics will follow.

Hank, you are correct, that is our house.

Martin,On the east side of the runway we rent out some hangers for 30+ airplanes. We give one free hanger use for his large tractor and one to a guy to take care of the mowing. I only mow the 1 acre my house & hanger is on. We purchased the airport in 1992, and we have a great pilots association that takes care of the hangers and grounds in return for very low hanger rent and fuel at cost. Everyone wins with this deal.

At one point in time we even raced our golf carts. That stopped when I dropped in a 750 Honda 4 in my Club Car. I then had to take my fun to the road that runs along the S side of the airport. The looks from the folks that looked in their mirror and then got passed by a golf cart @ 70 to 80 was worth the risk. Now they get the same experience with the 7.

locostv8, we have a great country setting, but not views as good as the Va MTNS.

I love the slow life out here in the country! No beach & no city, just small towns, in the "locost" area of the U.S., great place to be unemployed.

Arya, good call! My 16 year old daughters first car was a VW GTI with "recaro seats". My son's first car was a 37 Bentley 4 1/4 dorp head coupe that he & I restored. When he sold it and reinvested the money. It paid his way for his E.E., with help from his co-op, and very little from us @ U.C. in Oh. He was a very cheap one to send to school. He had enough after school to purchase a Mazda RX7 twin turbo to play with. He finished up with more money than he started school with.

Arya, both of my kids are in their 30's. I'm still a kid in my "mind" only. I had a late WW II vet tell me he just got back from a reunion with the kids he went to HS with. He flew PBY's in the war. I told him he had not been a kid for 65 years.
