pierats
We are currently in Weaverville, headed for Fort Bragg this evening. We've had a couple of minor breakdowns - Chad, myself and Gert. Chad took a nice sized rock the first day - dented a frame member but missed the sump. Yesterday was HOT - 107 in Redding - All of us were suffering - except for Stan who has a "cool shirt" system (that was smart!). Anyway you can see my pics from days 1 and 2 here: NorCal 2008

JohnCh
What Al said! It looks like a lot of new pavement has been laid down this summer. How are the roads? 107 degrees?? I bet you wish you still had your 1/2 hood yesterday Today is the run down to the sea, so the temps should be much cooler. Looking forward to seeing the next round of photos. -John
soareyes
Yesterday was HOT - 107 in Redding - All of us were suffering - except for Stan who has a "cool shirt" system (that was smart!). Yes, my Cool Shirt turned out to be a great idea for this tour. Yesterday I drove nearly 700 miles from Fort Bragg to home in Victorville via Dixon, and the temps were well over 100 degrees most of the afternoon. It took me about 12 hours driving time, and I could not have done it and lived without the shirt! Here is their web site where you can see what the system is and how much it costs: http://www.coolshirt.net So, how hot will it be in Branson next July? soareyes
A few pics. Bill Goss hosted a BBQ after the first day of driving. Beautiful house! From left to right - Bill G's Stalker, Dion D's Locost, Chad M's Ultralite, Tom J's' Caterham, Bill G's Birkin, Gert B's Birkin, and Stan S's Birkin. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/693637300_DSCN3373.jpg In Lassen National Volcanic Park, close to 8000 ft. altitude: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/10582127_DSCN3390.jpg Rearview mirror shot with Tom's Caterham in front: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1568093669_DSCN3405.jpg Gert fettling with Bill and Dion looking on. I believe the older gentleman on the right name is Russ, and he owns the Caterham in the background with yellow wheels. He lives in the area and joined us for lunch: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/483961111_DSCN3412.jpg Hwy 1 on the way to Fort Bragg, finally out of the heat! Missing is Chad's Ultralite which suffered a broken suspension piece, and Bill and his Birkin who stayed with Chad: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/794733587_DSCN3414.jpg Almost home, me and my shadow: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1953402788_DSCN3427.jpg

Al N.
Stan et al. Here's the Branson average in July: Hghs 88-91 Lows 65-67 Average 78 BTW, great pix. Do all you guys use some sort of variant of "Gert's fancy-shmancy remote controlled camera mount"? or a variety of camera mount methods?
soareyes
BTW, great pix. Do all you guys use some sort of variant of "Gert's fancy-shmancy remote controlled camera mount"? or a variety of camera mount methods? Yes, I use the most complicated, technically advanced camera mount in existance. Here's a pic of the mount in action: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd136/soareyes/DSCN3435.jpg Sorry, couldn't resist! I think Gert and Chad were the only two with video mounts, the rest of us used my method
Al N.
Stan- I love the features on that mount! Such as: - Random anti-jitter/jitter-inducing system! - Ability to work in virtually every situation/application, except when both hands are needed. - Works with any camera, even video! And, of course, the price can't be beat! :jester: In all seriousness, great pix. Thanks for keeping us posted. BTW, a reminder to send some high rez pix and perhaps a write up to John V. for the next newsletter. -A
