southwind25 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 We got a call sunday morning.."hey are you guys comming?? " So we quickly put a coat of wax on the 7, found some warm clothes and went on the Austin Heley clubs fall foliage tour. A cold rain in the morning didnt keep us away, it just made for a tail happy 7. we had a few healeys. an MGB and us (and a few pieces of german and japanese iron too) Was a great day, and we ended up at a new place called "the pub" in rocky river cleveland.. Mike R take note: we kept the route directions, we gotta do this one!!http://www.usa7s.net/aspnetforum/upload/1624039911_bobfall.jpghttp://www.usa7s.net/aspnetforum/upload/2046390095_fall3.jpg

Mike Rohaley Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I'm sorry I missed it. It looks like much more fun than exhaust and brake work on the winter car. Maybe we will need to run the route on one of those mega-snowfall days so you can exercise your Subaru.
southwind25 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 hat details? actually, our youngest son bought it at a spring british car show this past year, a onion jack on blue,, it sorta ties on the bottom, and the ball on top bounces around like a paddleball...all add to the fun!
MHKflyer52 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Can one say Wiperwill (the bird) with a British accent wearing a Union Jack? Your son has a good taste and you have a sense of humor. I use to fly an airplane that had a tuft of yarn on the nose cone so you could see if you were in a high-speed skid while doing combat maneuvers, guess your tassel would work the same when cornering hard. You might be starting a trend you know.

Martin, I think I found a photo of your combat days. Looking good! Tom http://usa7s.net/aspnetforum/upload/354012721_Stearman biplane.jpg

Great airplane for its time and a lot of fun, just stay off the brakes until very slow or you will be on the nose while taxiing a Stearman. Here is a photo that shows what I was talking about. http://www.usa7s.net/ASPNETFORUM/upload/234363281_Skid String.JPG
yellowss7 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Martin, Can't be 100% sure but that looks like an F 14. Is That what you drove? Tom
DeanG Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 A tassel on the nose is standard practice on sailplanes. It provides out side the cockpit indication of a coordinated turn, lack of slip.
MHKflyer52 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Martin, Can't be 100% sure but that looks like an F 14. Is That what you drove? Tom At Narf Norva as the A6/F14 project O in the late 70's.
