So What is the Status of your 7 now that WINTER is here?

I've tried my best to stretch the driving season as far as possible, but I think we're done for the year. :ack: The Birkin is parked under the hoist and I'll start on the upgrades/repairs as soon as I'm done getting ready for Christmas. As much as I'll miss driving it, I'm sort of looking forward to taking it apart again! :D

..... Sadly the only place I know of that has ideal weather most of the time is Hawaii.......

Well, I don't know. Did you notice the many many rust buckets in Hawaii? The air must be saturated with salt there (not talking about humidity...). As for ideal weather, I guess California is quite acceptable. Admittedly it is raining right now and there is snow above 2000 ft. But otherwise I think it is about as good as it gets. :hurray:

It's in the teens, with freezing rain here. Thanks for rubbing it in about California.

Well maybe we will have a white Christmas, which isn't the norm for the non mountainous portion of California

In another thread I mentioned that my winter plans for the Birkin was to drive, drive, drive....

I live in the Mojave Desert after all!

I spoke too soon:

I got rid of my snow shovel 25 years ago when I moved here from Ohio. Never though I would need it again

What's impressive abt the snow angel is there are no steps in the snow next to it. Did you fall from the sky?

My Seven is in my 2 car garage awaiting warmer weaather. My wife's car got the other garage spot. Meanwhile my 1 month old '08 M3 Coupe sits out in the ice and snow, plotting how to get in out of the weather. I also have an Accord and a Prius so my drive way is starting to look like a car-lot

Winter is great for my Seven ownership as it's the only time I am not spending money "upgrading" it:).

Now that I'm down to 1 airplane, I have my 3,000 sq ft heated hanger some what filled with car stuff & other things I must need. Even with a 3 car garage I run out of room. I know there must be something I don't need. No snow on the roads, but too much road salt for the 7.

My last driving day was the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was a bit chilly, but sunny and a good day for a drive. Winter moved in the following day. It's only gotten worse since then. The Birkin is in the garage, under cover, waiting for spring.

This is the second winter of my discontent. When I started work on the Caterham S3 kit in June of '07, I thought, "Piece of cake.... I'll have this ready in plenty of time for the CCC '07 Pacific Coast Tour in September of '07" (which was my original objective).

But living in Alaska and working on the car on periodic trips to Colorado hasn't moved the project ahead as quickly as I'd hoped. Add to that an engine that went back to Caterham to solve a corrosion problem that developed mysteriously during dry storage, plus my inborn tendency to want to do my own fixes and upgrades and tweaks and mods as the car is being assembled (rather than after it's been on the road and has to be taken apart to some degree for these mods), and it has been a drawn-out process. Guys who can pop out to the garage every evening or so for a couple of hours of work on a Seven are the ones I envy. Every time i get back to it, it takes me a half hour to remember where I left off....

The garage in Colorado where I'm working (when I'm working) is probably pretty chilly in Colorado's cold snap right now, even with the heat on (Jeff, don't let the beer freeze!). I'm just hoping to finish the car before the 2-year license tags expire and I have to renew....
