scannon Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I received a post card from the magazine announcing that the March 2009 issue will be the last one. It also said "The balance of your subscription will be served by Hot Rod Magazine starting with the April 2009 issue which will be mailed to you in Mid February". Kit Car was mostly Cobra clones but there were usually something on other interesting cars, even the occasional Se7en. Let's see, I have a Caterham, two Miatas and a Silverado, Hot Rod Mag is going to be a real benefit to me. Sport Compact Car magazine has also tanked along with a few others. Skip
Kitcat Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Sports Car International died last year too. It was one of my favorite car mags. The internet is taking its toll on the print medium. I used to love watching steam locamotives as a kid too. I still miss them. Not that I am dating myself here or anything.
locost7018 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Yeah, I got the same notice. Too bad, I really liked that mag. I just went through the last issue and there was very little adds in it compared to other mags. Russ
powderbrake Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I just received a notice that PC Magazine was stopping their paper magazine and it is now available only on the web.
Ian7 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hot Rod Mag is going to be a real benefit to me. I've had two magazines fold during my subscription. Both offered an alternative, but equally, both very willing to refund my subscription $ balance as I preferred.
eVox Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Kit car got boring quickly for me. I could only read about cobras and 550's so much. Sport compact car is quite good, but I got tired of having to call primedia monthly to have them send me their various subscriptions that were always 'lost in the mail'. SCC also had engineering articles, but some issues made fun of the idea of doing it yourself or even bothering to crunch your own number. grassroots motorsports and classic motorsports for me thanks. hemmings sports and exotics is good too.
