Well, you have to put that advert in context...

It's NewEnglandClassicCar;

there's been SO MUCH stuff written and spoken about this .... dealer? ... by people who have dealt, or thankfully not dealt with him.

As far as breaking the rear tires loose in 1st, 2nd & 3rd-:LOL!

I have an identical car, there is wheelspin in 1st-period.

Hyperbole aside, it seems like a good price for a Caterham.

last february i took my 7 into work on a weekend. i left my lights on a coworker jumped me. i also had a tool set from work out with car troubleshooting any other problems. our new boss' boss' boss just happens to show up with his family to show them around. luckily they parked on the otherside of the building and I had not yet wheeled the tools back. I did give my coworker enough heads up for him to take his feet of the desk and minimize Solitaire! After i was finished going from room to room putting everything back and avoiding any problems from powerful eyes, which probably looked like a bad episode of Scooby Doo, i got the hell out of there chirping 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears in front of the building.

It can be done. on hard tyres. or gobs of power.

Zetec vs Crossflow, Jon-big difference.

And the seller claims its "hard" not to break the rear tires loose in the 1st 3 gears: maybe, on a rainy cold day?

I love my car, and someone is going to love this car. But it's not the torque monster it's being advertised as.

While I was aware of this company I was not aware of its reputation until pointed out here - a quick google revealed a litany of customer satisfaction issues.

A second closer look at the sale pics on this car now makes me wonder about its condition...

I was reading his website, now that is some funny stuff.

Read the description of his 7,s and "the dilution factor", all backed up by the legal button on the bottom of the page that says, in a nutshell, we are not responsible for anything we say or do:

I also see that the blue car listed has the SuperSpring engine, I need one of those for my bed.

I like this review of the place:

" There were a bunch of young guys going at the old cars like spider monkeys on drugs with hammers in their hands."

UPDATE: Called and talked to Marc 3/2/09 the car is sold.

I can break loose the rear tires in any gear including 5th. Just takes some hard cornering or braking.....

But seriously. With some 170 RWHP it needs creative clutch work in second gear and probably serious abuse in 3rd (have not tried it) to make it happen. I am pretty sure it is possible at high revs and dumping the clutch, but what is the point??
