The black material you are asking about are quarter doors. They actually reduce the amount of wind and road debree from entering the passenger compartment. soareyes Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 For Birkin owners, the Caterham quarter-doors fit on a Birkin perfectly. I bought a new set off ebay several years ago and added my own snaps to match the male snaps already on the car. As Martin said, they really cut down on road debris flying into the cockpit while reducing wind buffeting. They have a molded recess so you can still rest your arm on the side sill of the car. Boxologist Posted March 3, 2009 Share Posted March 3, 2009 (Mr) Orange's half dooor attachs in a pretty clever fashion. besides the typical pop snap on the rear, the top leading edge is fastened by a 1/4 turn fastener which make opening and swinging the door upwards quite easy.
