MHKflyer52 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It is most likely to facilitate the start of a new business in Iraq and to help their economy I would bet. If you read between the lines of the Solicitation............"Joint Contracting Command-Iraq is soliciting for a baby diaper making machine.".............apparently there are a lot of new infants now in Iraq or they are going to make new head raps...........sorry I just could not resist as I am not always PC nor claim to be........:leaving:
yellowss7 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I have a picture of our fearless leader in one that I am dying to post but I'm 100% postive that it would get edited. However, Mazda in my defense Truth is a defense against defamation. But I'll be good. :leaving: Tom
powderbrake Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 It appears that the machine is to be installed in Mosul, along with the supplies to actually produce the diapers. My company was involved in tension control of the materials as they flow through the machine for various diaper machine manufacturers around the world. Contolling a web of very thin and very fragile non-woven material, the elastic bands at the legs and waist and the 003 thick adhesive tape at nearly 1000 feet per minute requires state of the art equipment. They are producing diapers at a speed of 6 diapers per second ! This is a seriously large and complicated machine. I suppose that winning the hearts and minds of the Iraq mothers will go a long way in enhancing good will for the USA in Iraq. Ask your wife if she would like to wash diapers or use disposable. We have made investments in building schools, hospitals, rebuilding their munincipal electric and sewage utilities etc. Why the Air Force has the diaper machine duty is anybody's guess, but a multi-million dollar diaper machine may be a good investment. (This coming from a guy who is likely more conservative than Rush Limbaugh.)

Have to agree with you on that fact that it is good for the good will effort and most likely cost less than flying tons of disposable diapers into Iraq by the US Airforce but the longterm effects of disposable diapers is just nuts when you look at the time it takes to break down if buried and if you incinerate them it needs to be in a modern incinerator not a fire in the backyard......I cannot believe I am actually aware of this but I am for some reason and I am not a tree hugger by any means.....:seeya:

My daughter insists on cloth diapers for my granddaughter...... but Iraq is a lot more primitive than the USA, and burning or burying diapers is trivial compared with the damages of the past regime or the war, and the usefulness to the mothers. You have to have the basics of life like shelter , food, running water and care for your children before you decide the environment comes first.
