Putting the Megabusa on the dyno today... Guesses?

Here in 2 hours I'll be putting my Megabusa on a Dynojet Chassis Dynamometer for the first time.

2006 Hayabusa 1300cc motor

Pair valve & system removed

Westfield long tube header

Yoshimura muffler

Any guesses on rear-wheel horsepower? Hell, I hope it has enough torque to turn the drum! Haha.

WestTexasS2K is the winner with HP and pierats with torque.

This seems on par with a stock Hayabusa engine without a power commander or other mods. I'm definitely happy about that. Although I hit the revlimiter in 6th gear (11,500rpm) the dyno graph stops at 9900rpm for some reason. The maximum speed was 117mph. I thought a Megabusa would go to 136mph, but maybe I'm wrong. I sent a text message to the shop owner to see if the Dynojet tach pick-up is limited to 9900rpm or if something happened during the dyno run. I know I hit the limiter, so as soon as he gets back with me I'll let you all know.

Pretty good, should make for a quick car considering how light the car probably is.

It looks like you reached peak before 10,000rpm anyway so it shouldn't really matter seeing the last 1000rpm.

Yeah, but I'd like to know my top speed to determine if I top out on certain tracks or not. Hopefully the dyno owner is mistaken about the 117. Unfortunately I was busy looking at every other gauge but the speedo during the pull.

So it makes almost no power below 4K?

Pretty stout otherwise. About equal to the "200 hp" Zetecs on the dyno. 50 more hp than my Crossflow, 4 less torque. Also a pretty flat power curve as well.

The Megabusa experiences a tad bit of surging in the lower rpm band so I chose to start the run at 4000rpm. The dyno operator was a little slow on reaction time hitting the "sample button". :D It makes power below 4500rpm, I just don't want to damage anything. Besides, in a drag race, sprint, autocross or lapping day adventure the Megabusa won't experience anything below 4500rpm.

So is the grand prize for winning a ride around the block if we ever meet face to face?

I think the winner should get a ride to Hooters :)

Wow, not bad. When people ask me how much hp I have in my 7 I usally say less than 100hp because I have a little 900CC motror. So around 97 would be in the ball park.

I will be corner scaling the car this week *crosses fingers*. I hope under 1000 lb.

i put in for 1175# on the other thread but thats fully wet with a full tank of gas, reverser box removed but shift actuator included.

btw - what wheels/tires did you end up with...i'm running 13" R888's but will switch over to the CR500s once i burn through what i got...the R888's are somewhat heavy and seem too stiff on the sidewall.

It looks like you have a bit of a tuning issue. It looks like you are not getting all your power. What kind of airbox are you running? If it's not stock, a power commander will really make a difference by optimizing the mixture.

As a point of reference, I have a race car powered by a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR engine and it's getting 142hp at the rear wheels. Stock header, stock intake. Your 'Busa can do better I bet.

Alex,

Definitely more power on the table. I may get around to putting a power commander on eventually. How much should I expect to gain?
