rzempel
I found these, while cruising Craigslist rather than working (don't tell my boss): http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ctd/1499095096.html http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ctd/1492760987.html http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/1497166629.html http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/1466872107.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/1481109097.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/1495638057.html http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/1491827871.html The usual disclaimers apply. Croc
A $39000 40th anniversary edition Caterham? Good luck to him if he gets it.
WTR
A $39000 40th anniversary edition Caterham? Good luck to him if he gets it. Well, consider what the 40th Anniversary Edition cost new. They are loaded up with options and are truly unique. Only 50 were produced worldwide according to Caterham UK. I'd say it's a sensible asking price. Keep in mind how rare Sevens are in the US in general. I know I wouldn't let mine go for any less!
Spaz
The CMC-7 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/1491827871.html sure looks like a great starting point for someone.

Anniversary editions are rarely worth more than a very small premium over their standard versions. People always think they are, but when it comes down to it, they are simply option packages most of the time. From what I understand of the 40th Caterham, it was simply a nicely optioned car. Like a Weissach Porsche 911 or a 10th Anniversary RX-7. Usually there are no performance mods on packages like these. I paid $25k for an 4k mile '97 Caterham this summer. My car has all the options of the 40th (that I can tell) plus I have a mildly built Zetec. I think he should be happy if he can get $30k, especially in the dead of winter. Only 50 were produced worldwide according to Caterham UK. To be honest I do not know what they cost new? I suspect it was probably a lot and the initial depreciation would have been steep. The key attraction for me in the 40th anniversary edition is the paint job - a lovely color combination - but you can order that on any new Cat these days - it is a special request option apparently from what I read on Blatchat earlier this year. Also, Bill I know you are a smart guy - buy low and sell high - only way in business!

Also, Bill I know you are a smart guy - buy low and sell high - only way in business! I was told a long time ago by a very knowledgeable and accomplished collector that anything built in limited, serialized quantities which posess unique asthetic and/or mechanical qualities, will always be increasingly more coveted compared to their 'standard' contemporaries. The 40th is serialized and sports a dedicated paint scheme along with a few nice options. That's enough for me! Does one want the real thing or an immitation? Up to the individual. This one's a keeper so I honestly don't care too much about what it's worth. The best part is I know I won't likely pass myself on the road anytime soon. Come to think of it NONE of us will!!! I am completely enthused by these cars regardless of the finer details.

solder_guy
I always laugh when I see LIMITED EDITION on the back of a mass produced, depreciating car .. (this does not apply to numbers like 50 - 100) The CMC-7 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/1491827871.html sure looks like a great starting point for someone. This post is gone .. probably sold .. BTW: How do you do a search on craigslist for more than one city?
