11Budlite Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I'm running these on my Birkin and I think it's a good all-around tire. With the rebate, the price for (4) 205/50-15 shipped would be $244. The rebate is good till 4/30/10. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/falken/product/submitProductSize.do?pc=18501&typ=Passenger%2FPerformance&tmn=Azenis+RT-615
11Budlite Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 If you can use the 195/60-14 (I'm sure some of the Caterham's had 14" wheels), the price would be even better at $184 shipped.
bsimon Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Have you ever tried RT615s on a heavier car? Say a Mustang?
11Budlite Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Have you ever tried RT615s on a heavier car? Say a Mustang? Sorry Bob, never used them on anything other than the Birkin. I know some people have used them at the track in heavier vehicles, and the general consensus is once they get hot they tend to get a little loose. Maybe this year I'll be able to do a trackday to see for myself.
rnr Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Have you ever tried RT615s on a heavier car? Say a Mustang? My team used them as race tires on our Lemons E30 BMW race car. They did a pretty good job with good grip, progressive breakaway and good audible feedback when they slide. This was all in the dry so I dont know how they will perform in the rain.
MoBoost Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I'm in that group looking for 14" tires to replace my very old Yokohama A032R's. Have never run Falken tires. At this point, these are probably better than what I'm running. The price is certainly okay.
jimrankin Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I went through two sets of the 615's on my '04 MINI Cooper S, just using them for track days only, not for the street. I only had a problem with them getting greasy when it was pushing or past 100 degrees at Thunderhill. Good feel at turn in and lots of room to push them in the corners without any quick surprises and this is on a front wheel drive car. Wilwoods all around and they were great for breaking, lots of pedal pressure before the anti-lock kicked in. Not going to beat a race compound for traction but each set lasted a full season without cording, seemed to just stop wearing about the time the bars got close to the tread, without feeling to be overly heat cycled. I was happy with them as a great value for the use I got out of them. Especially since I had gone through a complete set of new F1-D3 #1 rated Extreme summer use street tires in two track sessions the year before, and those cost a whole lot more and didn't stick as well until I was close to not getting past safety inspection with them.
twnpipe Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Just mounted my set thanks for the referral. Shipping was fast and local dealers could not believe price. No problem gettin them mounted locally, everyone is just glad for the work. Tires feel good on the street and I'll find out on the track in a couple weeks.
