slngsht
Shot these this morning with a MD 80 camera... off amazon for $39. I can get it from Hong Kong under a different brand name for something like $30. It's pretty tiny http://cdn1.ioffer.com/img/item/123/640/337/srgZiH4zHWRExjZ.jpg any interest in a group buy to lower shipping costs? Thinking about buying a couple more. mebrahimi
Bob. great find. price is pretty competitive, but shipping is $7 and 4 gig micro SD is $14.50. my $39 came with a 4 gig card and included shipping. I just looked though, and they have bumped the price to $61. The HK outfit includes a 2 gig card.

Croc
Looks good although I think I puked from Captain Ebrahimi's flying lessons! :jester: Anyone used it on a car? Should be very easy to mount on a roll bar

Should be very easy to mount on a roll bar Yup. kinda windy around here, small field, and it wasn't on our glider, which is more stable. This is the toy it's mounted on right now http://www.hobbyzone.com/images/airplanes/PKZ4200-350.jpg
Jim F.
Thanks to the Internet I seem to have opened up a large can of worms which makes my buying search a bit more confusing. I watched the Google clips and demos and am ready to buy but can't seem to make a simple decision. They all look physically identical and share the same electronic specifications, but some manufacturing questions occurred to me: Amazon's have AEE embossed on the front case regardless of the make (Smart, IDW,Serfi,Mini DV) while I've seen others with no front lettering, and some have plastic cases while some have metal cases. They all come w/a 2gb (Lexar?) card, but one demo suggested replacing the Lexar w/a Sandisk (8gb) to eliminate the "jerkiness" of motion. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill or does any of it really matter........just pick one and go with it? I'd guess they're all made in China anyway, but is there one favored over another in regards to quality?
ottocycle
Jim (and others), I agree it is confusing. I want a decent car camera for track days and the selection is very confusing. I have seen the GoPro HD and its picture looks good but I think wind noise could be a problem (is there a way of reducing this?). Does anyone have first hand recommendations? Boxologist
GoPro camera's audi will be useless in a se7en. even the new HD variants where the audio was improved. our cars need a separate audio input for a mic which can bee tucked away from the wind. or sufficiently baffled. I have not checked to see where the mic is located on that camera. The way I have it mounted in the plane, half of it is sticking vertically out of the nose (at the front of the first big black cover) and the rest is under the cover, so the mic was probably inside the body. I'd say in those vids the plane was moving at about 40mph.
Off Road SHO
I used a bullet camera found here: http://www.spygadgets.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=S190CWX&Category_Code=BULLET with the remote microphone setup so that I could place the mic out of the wind and near where I wanted the sound to be recorded. For the sound of the engine, I placed it near the rear upper frame rail, just below the roof rack. Like here: To record occupant squeals of delight and fear, I hung the mic from the inside rear view mirror. I can't post any of those because most involved some sort of curse words. slngsht
a short footage from the beach... after this landing, i think some sand flew in my motor, even though it was shut off when I touched down during flight you can already hear some bad noises from the motor, so maybe the bearings were already going??? anyway, I ordered 1 more of these cameras - this one is from a hong kong supplier and comes with 2gig Sandisk microSD card - we'll see how it performs when I get it. MHKflyer52
Mazda, You need to figure out how to put airspeed and altitude into the video so you can see them. So why are you not playing with Franklin7......
slngsht
I have a system with a vid transmitter, GPS and telemetry, but it's a little too heavy for the plane i'm currently playing with - and a little too expensive to fly over water if I have an accident. I'm planning to get Frankn7 out tomorrow... totally lacking on quality time with her.
