2010 Carlisle Show - Pictures Thread

Recommended Posts

Although I didn't make it this year, I found a thread [from WSCC forum] with a TON of pictures of poorly built "tuner" cars in the parking lots surrounding the 2010 Carlisle Show. It is hard to believe some of the cars shown in the thread below entered the car show. Word of caution: no nice cars appear in the thread below.

:puke:

Now, can everyone else post pictures of the NICE CARS that attended?

Carlisle actually changed the format of their show a while back.

They used to have imports / kit cars together. Needless to say, the import crowd was... well... different.

So now, the Jap imports are no longer at Carlisle. That show actually moved somewhere else in the south. Can't remember where.

That's why now when you go, you only see kit cars, retrofits, and European clubs basically.

Steve here (Ruadhd2). Thanks very much to Mazda and Scott for shepherding me to Carlisle in my tired Rotus. I got the mechanicals and eletricals in o.k. shape and was able to motor to the show without a problem. Great to meet the old timers. People were mostly taking pictures of the Superlite and Croc's Caterham and an MG TF. I resorted to offering to pay people 50 cent to take pictures of my car. No, seriously, people actually did take unpaid pictures of it to enter into the Ugly Betty Car Photo Contest.

So here are some car pics. Most are kits, but I took some nostalgia pics from the import areas:

Hope this link works.

Despite the concerns over the weather it was good to meet some of the USA7s members and put a face to a profile name.

I was a little disappointed that Frankn7 did not make the drive - some lame excuse about getting hair wet or not finished bonsai-ing the electrics. Mazda was probably scared he would end up on Hank's Carlisle pic link with the bonnet work done lately :jester:

Unfortunately I left before Jon made it so there are no pics of his car.

Roman's (EvilRomeo) Ultralite.

Lots of bling bling under the hood:

That engine was a magnet for the crowds. Lots of drooling enthusiasts - several people deep at one point. Note the strategically placed rag - convenient to wipe up those inevitable accidents from those men who could not control themselves.

Steve's (Ruahd2) Rotus. I was a little surprised when Mazda popped out of the passenger seat. For a moment I thought he had modified his car again.

Great work being done to fettle the car. Looks crappy now but I love the proposed paint plan of estoril or cobra blue with a nose stripe and band.

The fun moment of the day was helping Steve put the hood up. What a comedy. I think there were 4 of us and 30 minutes later we worked it out. And I thought my hood was a mess to assemble.

Gary's (GSLutz) very nice Birkin. I don't believe he drives it - it is too pristine. His display method was inspired - it was like displaying a blonde to Bill Clinton - no-one could resist checking out the car and more importantly the trailer.

Great workmanship on the trailer - I want one like that. I saw 3 people separately measuring the trailer up with tape measure (one even as Gary was trying to drive away as he left!).

For those who did not turn up here are some member photos as they participating in the ritual tall story telling (my horsepower is more than yours, etc):

Right to left - Steve (Ruahd2), Roman (Evilromeo), Gary (GSLutz?), and un-named friend of Gary (sorry I forgot).

The only Lotus at the entire show was this Elite parked next to my Seven. I never met the owner unfortunately.

Getting token Seven treatment was this MG owner who initially parked next to the USA7s tent and then eventually under the tent.

Comment from the owner was that the MG club across the way did not have any room and anyway he did not know them. Poor guy spent a lonely day sitting next to his car. Lovely car - he really had done nice work on it.

There were 2 other Sevens at the show - 2 Stalkers, one with a V8 too. Very nicely presented cars and they got a lot of interest.

Now for the rest of the show - I saw none of the trailer trash that Hank posted (that he found and borrowed from the WSCC UK site...). Instead I saw lots of stuff I wanted to buy. Given the recent post, some Porsche replicas - lovely:

This is the powerplant of one - my lawnmower engine is bigger than this:

This was labelled as a Superperformance GTM - not seen one before but I like it:

Guess the donor car on this one:

I had to see the dash to confirm it...

The Opel GT club had a massive turnout - nice people to chat with:

The Citroen club had a nice display. The left car was a Citroen 5hp. The engine was smaller than my alternator. The guy actually drove it an hour to get to the show:
