eVox
Whats the maximum precipitation that you'll take your car out in? i've been bumming all weekend...rain rain rain and no wipers :/
Croc
I have had the car out in torrential rain. Not recommended but it does still run happily. The worst was the 2009 drive from Milford NJ with Bruce Bowker. S1Steve and I went swimming going home on that day after the drive. Once home, I ended up drilling a hole in the floor to drain the standing water out. I have wipers that are on the fritz so I rely on RainX to keep the screen clear - works great when you are moving. Go on....go out....you know you want to! Dont worry about your car shrinking any further!
Hank
I've been caught a few times in the rain. Longest trip was over an hour. If I keep my speed above 35 mph the aeroscreen I have keeps the rain off my body. The only thing that gets wet is my helmet. Go have fun! Of course, watch out for other drivers. Hydroplaning a 1000 lb car sideways on the interstate will NOT have a good outcome.
Boxologist
Drove thru HARD rain for 10-15 minutes on thursday night driving thru Baltimore. Put the new wiper blades on the night before. was able to maintain 70+(not km/hr mind you) on the expressway on r888s. A bit of white knuckling, but never felt out of control, especially w/ the defogger not functioning. More rain friday night driving in southern Maryland looking for dinner. no problems at lower speeds. well, no handling problems. condensation was a bitch and a half w/ the full hood and doors and no defogger. FogX is not a viable solution:). I had no problem the night before w/ the 1/2 hood and 1/2 doors at the higher speed. been in rain plenty of times. drove thru some showers on the initial drive home from Boston in 2006. With appropriate weather gear u'll be fine. Definitely some material thats water resistant is best along w/ functioning wipers. Ruadhd2
Unbelievably, I drove the Rotus #3 project car home from Carlisle in torrential rain without much of a problem. When it got really heavy, a few drops came through the little space between the side curtain and top on the passenger side. Problem so far is windshield wipers that don't turn off until you turn the car off. :driving:
pi7ot
I have driven for 3 hours in the rain to the track in the rain. Hooned around on the track in drizzle, then 3 hours back in heavy rain. No weather gear, on Kumho R comps. I was wishing that the screen wipers were on both sides of the front screen though....Between arse puckering pools of standing water. The car did not like sitting in rainfall...started to pop and misfire. m

eVox
the engine swap is done and megasquirt has been tuned. I still need to add an intercooler and tune the acceleration enrichment to be 100%. The car is vastly more enjoyable to drive now. I think its a combination of breathing less exhaust (its on the passenger side now), a quieter exhaust (mmm turbo), better seating position, and its much easier to start up now (little gizmos like fast idle). Where I used to drive it only because I thought that I should, I now look for opportunities to drive it.
WestTexasS2K
Kevin and I during the 07 One Lap had to drive from New Orleans to Georgia via Florida during a tropical depression. It took forever we could only go about 55. Year before we had to drive from southern Illinois to road America in sleet and rain that is the coldest we both have ever been. We were on the verge of hypothermia. The most miserable night of my life. Next year electric motorcycle gear was ordered.
Kitcat
Have had a coupla bad rain moments in the Se7en, even ran out of gas in the rain. Now I pick my drives and if lots of rain is likely, I take a different car. But cloud bursts, short showers are no problem. The top leaks a little where it meets the windshield, and the inside of the windshield tends to get foggy. A small towel is handy for defogging and mopping up on the fly. On a hot day, totally sealed in from the rain, it really sucks.
