OK, so my buddy in Toronto picked up my Fejer 7 forme last night. Money exhanged hands and now it's sitting in buddy's trailer waiting to be delivered to me this Sunday.

The anticipation is killing me!:toetap05:

Here're some pics he took just to rub it in...

I have a few toys here, but waiting for the 7 is doing things to my mind like nothing before. Now I know what Steve was going through waiting for his Caterham from Japan.

I'm also still waiting for my insurance from Silver Wheels. Hopefully they can still use the appraisal from the old owner. Once it gets here on Sunday I'll be rushing to the MTO on monday to get it registered.

The waiting is a bummer, but the joy upon getting your new girl is awesome..:party:The first time your rear end slides into the cockpit and you grip that wheel, you know you made the right choice. The view down the bonnet (hood) with those two huge headlamps showing you the way down the open road is an adrenallin boost. Enjoy Oyagi...just Enjoy. Steve:driving:

Looks like the wait will have to kill me even longer!

Just got off the phone...the classic car insurance plan here (Silver Wheels) won't underwrite me because of my 3 past convictions! The first one comes off in Oct and looks like I will have to wait until the fall to finally legally drive it on the road.

This is total BS. All 3 convictions happened in the last 2 years in my NSX, all were in the same small town I drove through on the way to Toronto from Ottawa when I went to Mosport for their HPDE days. They are for 90, 88 and 84 in a 80 km/h zone! None involved points and since I didn't want to take time out of my work to fight them I just paid the bloody fines and forgot about them. My own insurance carrier doesn't care about them but they won't insure a specialty vehicle. &*(^%&*$%@#!!!!!

That sucks, I have mine thru the same people, they made it real easy for me. Worst thing comes to the worst, it gives you time to concentrate on UPGRADES.......I know that doesn't help.. Dont lose heart the time will pass quicker if you are getting her in top shape and ready for the fall. :(

Presume you were caught speeding on Hwy #7 (ironic, no ??).

Which town is so anal they ticket 84kph in an 80 zone? did you flip off the cop just prior? :-)

It was Tweed. Hwy and 37 is brutal. For some reason I keep tempting fate by taking it ever time I go to the GTA due to the awesome chip wagon in the public park there.

They see this:

...and the ticket is already written before they get out of the cruiser, apparently. I wonder how they will treat the 7?

I've found the response from our local R.C.M.P and town police to be really favorable, they seem to view the car as more of a classic British sports car, on the same lines as ( dare I say it) an MG or Morgan. So they dont view it in the same way as they may see that fearsome looking machine of yours. My local good guy actually asked what kind of speed I was pulling on my last little exploit up one of our quiet backroads..he just smiled aand told me to have fun..:hurray::cooldude:

Update:

Lotus arrived today!

Just got here around 7pm, towed here from Toronto by my buddy and his race tow vehicle...a decommissioned ambulance lol!

Thanks to Chad (aka readysetgo) I contacted Haggartys and might have insurance lined up by this time tomorrow (fingers crossed!).

Took some quick pics before carting it off to my storage unit until I can get some plates on. Pics don't do justice to the quality of the paintjob..immaculate!

Door bell rings, who's outside?

The car looks great!

Tell Hagerty it is a replica of a 1957 Lotus 7. That was the key to getting them to insure my '04 Caterham. The policy says the car is a 1950 Lotus 7 but it has the correct VIN on it so I'm not concerned.

Those kids have that Sevens smile, bet they're jonesing for a ride.

More (small) delays. The shop took longer than expected this morning with the safety and I had to go to work before they finished. BUT, safety's been done, have al paperwork, planning to run to the Ministry tomorrow afternoon to complete the mission. Hope I don't run into snags. The old owner signed off a handwritten receipt for me and signed the ownership. In Ontario we need an official province-issued bill of sale so I'll pay for that. If they need the seller's signature on that I'll be cooked. :(

Really hoping it will be fine. Ottawa hosts its annual All British Car Day this Sat and it would be cool to show up in the Fejer.

Cool thing was while it was up on the hoist my buddy and I pulled a lot of the body panels off and admire the almost anal-retentive details the old owner had done to the car. Its solid, and you can tell he spared nothing to get things right. A lot of fabricated bits, cnc'd brackets etc. The only gripe is the front suspension arms and rear spare wheel bracket looked like it was painted with a brush, and its BR green. Ugh, gota shoot it in flat black. Stuff to consider over the winter.
