MHKflyer52 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Do you know why 6 was afraid of 7? No I'll bit. Why?
BrunnyS1 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 I like it a lot, love the ref to the nose cone but the pug nose is cute hey? .. "The original owner sent an picture of the car at a race in 1957 showing the drop nose that the car had at that time"
scannon Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 There were three Mark VIs at LOG27. Here's a picture of them along with a Mark II.
BrunnyS1 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Wow a wowa; so what was a Mk 1? a hoop and a stick??
BruceBowker Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Got to see a 6 at the New Hope, PA car show a few years ago. Neat car.
scannon Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Wow a wowa; so what was a Mk 1? a hoop and a stick?? Would ACBC add lightness to a hoop and a stick? No way! here's a link to the Mark 1, not to be confused with the Lotus Cortina Mark 1. http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=46106418079
DeanG Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 There should be at least two Lotus VI at LOG 30. Both Kyle's with a 1172 flat head Ford from PA and Pat's powered by an early MG engine from FL. Both were at LOG in CO. I think Pat's car is the aluminum and red car in the pictures. Pat did some demonstration Laps at LOG 29 at the Barber Motorsport Park. Both are great guys with a great depth of knowledge about the history of Lotus, the cars and racing. They have helped me in my search for cars & parts.
11Budlite Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Here's a restored Mark VI on SimpleSevens. Check out the period photo with the front mounted supercharger! http://www.simplesevens.org/0058.htm
RossD Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Anyone else think its odd that the original car Chapman started playing with was the Austin 7 and Chapman's own design didn hit it's stride (at least with the public) until his 7th version of it?
scannon Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I would have liked to hear the sounds of that supercharged engine with twin exhausts at full song.
