twobone Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Hi guys. I got a recommendation that I should save my original tulip wheels as they are NLA and may be worth something some day. In terms of size and proportion relative to the seven, I think they provide the right balance. I agree they are not the best looking wheel and tire choice on a 13 inch wheel is a beast. Can folks please post pics of their other wheels and tires in profile with their cars. Please also let me know the wheel and tire sizes and where you got them. Here is my car as a baseline reference
11Budlite Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I'm running 15 x 7 Enkei RP-F1's on my Birkin with Falken RT-615 tires in 205/50-15 size. The wheels weigh 9.8 lbs and the the wheel/tire combo was just under 30 lbs. I bought them from Good-Win-Racing but I'm not sure if those wheels are available in the Caterham bolt pattern.
yellowss7 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Here's a picture of my street wheels and one of my track wheels. Streets are Mike Barnby magniesium 3 piece wheels from the UK, originally the R500 factory wheels. I specced them when I ordered my kit. Both sets are 13 inch diameter. The MB's are 6.5 front and 8.5 inch wide on the rear. You can still order the wheels directly from Mike Barnby. http://mb-racingwheels.com/wheel_centres.htm Originally I ran with Avon CR500 tires, 175-55-13 and 205-55-13 but recently switched over to Toyo R888s for a change. The Track wheels are Kodiak 3 piece wheels in 13 inch diameter and 10 inch wide hoosier slicks at all four corners. Nice and Light too, but not as light as the MB's. Ordererd them directly from Kodiak. http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/wheels.html Tom Edited August 17, 2010 by yellowss7
twobone Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 I found that Rota makes an RB wheel that is 15X7 with the right bolt pattern 4X95.25 Looks like a tasty option
rjontzen Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 these are 15x7 mustang wheels, 4lug 4.25 bolt circle, with 205/60/15 tires wheels are cheap and the tires are a little big but it turned out to be a good solution for street use and i like the looks better than the 185/70/13s that i had before
Oyagi Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Konig Rewind, 15" diameters (not sure of width and offsets) Tires: Yokohama ES100 195/50VR15 on the front and 225/50 on the rears http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs314.snc4/41059_474533666223_690446223_6946163_1567030_n.jpg
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Konig Rewind, 15" diameters (not sure of width and offsets) 15x7, 0 offset using a 4x114.3 bolt circle. The only other 15" size is 15x7 40mm offset with a 4x100 bolt circle and I can tell it's not 40mm offest.
Oyagi Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 ^^Damn, this guy is good! I should have added that that bolt pattern is 4x114.3 Also, these wheels might be up for sale as I've just picked up a set of 14" RS Watanabes. http://www.genkidoridori.com/images/watanabe2.png They're used, and again I have no idea what the offsets are but I hope they fit. Uber-lite!
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 4x114.3 wheels in that size/offset are easy to come by as they were used on a lot of older Toyotas and Datuns/Nissans. Probably the best resource for them is club4ag.com
Oyagi Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) Installed my track wheels today: RS Watanabe 4x114.3 14x7's rear, 14x6.5 fronts mystery offsets http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs400.snc4/46359_475652821223_690446223_6975835_7235404_n.jpg vs. similar style Konigs but 15" diameter http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs183.ash2/44590_475391966223_690446223_6968274_7640873_n.jpg Edited August 27, 2010 by Oyagi
turboeric Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Normally, you can see the offset cast into the wheel somewhere. It will say ETxx, where xx is the offset in millimeters.
slomove Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) track wheels: 13" Real Wheels, spun rim, solid dish, no spokes, nothing fancy, just "the works", approx. 10 lbs + tire: "Form Follows Function" http://lh3.ggpht.com/_242PlvPtVpE/THdJAW-W1PI/AAAAAAAAB-c/jMFDPhqqRR0/s1280/IMG_6243.JPG Edited August 27, 2010 by slomove
