Racing shot - something in this pic does not fit

Never under estimate a scooter. years ago I got stuck riding my girl friends Honda Helix

(250cc) across the Dragon. I decided to make it worth my while, hanging off and dragging

what I could on every corner and keeping the throttle open. There were 2 CBR 600's,

a V8 Boss Hoss and turbo Charged 1000cc Kawasaki in chase. To all of our surprise one

could catch me. When we got to Cross roads of time

My friend on the Kawaski said " if there was $1000 on this race I still could not have

caught you. You were F^&%$ng hauling."

Those things are amazing.

Later that day though on the more open road it was another story..... :)

I could not even see them....

when in doubt, gas it!

Yeah, the tighter the turns the better for more upright bikes, and smaller tires. My friend would eat me alive in 2nd, 3rd gear turns on his supermoto bike but as the turns became bends it was bye-bye.

I apologize in advance to all whom I'm about to offend, but...

...scooter riders irritate the hell out of me! Most scooter operators riders don't have the balls enough to get a real motorcycle and too stupid to stay out of heavy traffic.

Anyway, nice pic - thanks for sharing. There should be an effort to get more scooters off the street and onto racetracks.

As a former Vesper Grand Sport owner (a mere 45 years ago) I can say it was the worst handling vehicle I ever had. You could only lean it over about 1/2 as far as the motorcycle that replaced it. The tiny wheels had little gyroscopic effect and contributed to its overall wobbliness. Hit the brakes and the front dove about 5 inches. The only thing that saved it (and me) was its total lack of power, tho I still managed to wreck it 3x. In the process I discovered what a 'tank slapper" is, tho the tank was actually elsewhere on the bike.

Even though I've never ridden a scooter I want a classic Vespa.

I do recall an article where Freddie Spencer was in Italy riding two up on a scooter and raced a moped rider riding two up. It was a classic race of power (scooter) vs. handling (the better lean angle of the moped). The other guy never knew he was racing the then 500cc world champion.
