Thanks for the video. I now know I missed a great day. The layout looked well suited to the Sevens.

Only one thing confused me - Kitcat was double up with passenger at one point then the video shows him through the carousel/banked turn single up....did he throw the passenger out at some point?

Croc, the track was amazing and really well suited to the 7. You did miss a great day.

As for editing, Three different people took the shots, and as the editor of the clip, I tried to link a few turns to get a good representaion of the track. I also edited out my two wrong turns into the Pit Out lanes as I actually got lost on my first lap and went the wrong way. The second time I got black flagged for my brake lights being stuck on, and I once again made the left into the pit out lane. They were not happy with me for those two bozo moves. Mike on the other hand, drove well and he was allowed to lap without an instructor.

Mike:

I pitched the instructor out after the 2nd lap (added Lightness:))!

Actually, as Tom notes, after 4 sessions w/an instructor, I got to solo on my final session. Since Tom spliced various segments, sometimes I have company, sometimes I don't.

Tom is too modest, he had a snafu on the first lap of the most confusing track I ever drove on (Unlike Tom, I let my instructor do the entire 1st session as I was as confused as Tom as what was where on track).

Then he got black flagged and used the any-port-in-the-storm approach to getting back in to the pits.

Since returning home, I play a video of a hot lap every day, just to keep the multi-faceted track track imprinted in my brain. It has several blind apexes, a corkscrew, the karossel, various multi-apex curves and what I call a false apex curve(seems like you shd apex at "X" but have to learn to apex at "Y"). And just to make things interesting, the pointer cone was misplaced on one corner, and my 1st instructor taught me a totally different line on several turns than the 2nd instructor. Again, all this on what was already the most confusing track I have ever driven.

I felt like a champ when I finally mastered it. Scot and Michael D were incredibly fast and much speedier than I was. A result of their extra power and knowing the track, not to mention driving talent.

I ran in their Friday At the Track (FAT) events. They make new drivers run in Group 1 which is for novices (that was me) and when they feel OK with your driving they give you a certification card and are allowed to run Group 2. I had run 3 events over 2 years and they were ready to give me my cert to run Group 2. I never followed through as I have not been back since. But I would eventually like to return and get it done.

Do they split the cars like that for the LOG track time or do they just require the newbies to have an instructor and run everyone together?

Dave, at the LOG event, they required all drivers to ride with an instructor for a few laps and then the instructor could sign off on you and allow you to drive solo. They split the groups based on levels, so all novices ran together, all intermidiates, all experts, etc.

Driving into the pit out lane twice, sorta excluded me from driving solo:banghead:.

At the upcoming NJMP event, they have instructors there and will sign off for you to drive solo depending on your level of experience and skill.

Run groups are also seperated by skill level.

Dave, I did ask if the S1 roll hoop would be acceptable at their event and the answer was YES. So Start tightening those bolts, change the oil, top up your fluids, replace your brake fluid, check your suspension for any play and your set.

Hopefully we get a good turnout. I just emailed with a Birken owner who just pulled his engine and gearbox to replace the gearbox and he's hoping to join us too. We could have up to 12 or more sevens if the sun, moon and the stars align.

Now that would be a blast.
