Ian7
http://texasmotorworks7.com/popupviewer.aspx?iid=3117780&pID=32648429 I'm pretty sure some of you have seen and driven this car recently. I'm considering it very seriously, (almost have cash in hand from sale of mine...). Who's driven it when, what did you think, and why didn't you buy it at the time? Please, please be constructive, as I realize this question could be considered a bit edgy. It's just that I'm too far away to drop in and see it myself. If I go that far, I have to essentially be sure I'm driving it home :-) cheers
Ruadhd2
I, also don't understand why this car didn't sell yet at this asking price. Would also like to hear an explanation of why it is still available.
KiwiBirkin
Looks like a nice car and much like my Birkin when I first got it except its younger than mine and has clam-shell guards. If it has a South African built 1600 Crosflow motor then its should be a AX block (only produced in SA) which are very sought after as they are stronger again than the 711M blocks and it will be pretty much bullet proof for a crossflow. Im not sure of the price for cars in the US as I dont know the market but it seems to be good value compared to a new car from Dick and if working on that pricing and its a 1999 car it seems well priced for its age and condition. I loved my car with the 1600 Crossflow and the twin webers and the T9 gearbox, it was lovely to use and I only re-powered to my Toyota 4AGE because the Crossflow on the webers was quite thirsty and the millage I do each year it was costing me a lot to run it. Tony
I've been watching this board for a year or two and I remember that Dick had this very same Birkin a while back. At the time it was $18.5K, wish I had jumped then. It sold, I think, disappeared from his website and has returned. There was a loose or broken engine mount that had depressed the price a bit. This may have been repaired hence the increase in price. You might inquire about that. I am 99% sure this is same vehicle, if not, my apologies. If it was in Indianapolis at $18.5K it would be in Illinois in my garage. Still looks like a great way to get into a Seven.........
xcarguy
I've seen the car up close (very recently) while visiting Dick. I didn't drive the car, but it did look nice from what I remember. I'll be at Dick's house again on Saturday, May 7 for a few test hops in my car. While, there, I can take the yellow car for drive if you like and let you know my thoughts. :driving:
Ian7
Thx, that would be great. I'm sure no one is trying to be misleading, but another set of eyes on the car would be another opinion of level of wear and tear, how well the car seems to have been maintained, etc. Everyone's got their own idea of what "excellent, good, fair" condition is. (I bought a sight-unseen 7 out of England years ago; seller and I obviously had vastly different ideas of what "on the button" meant) LOL
