2011 Club Officer Elections Call for Nominations

Recommended Posts

Folks-

It's time for club officer elections again. Please see the thread I just started in the Club Members section for info and a call for nominations.

http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6523

The general timing is for nominations to close on or around June 21, and elections (online via poll) to start soon thereafter and end on or about July 6. The goal is to have a new slate of officers in place by July 7th.

Officers of the USA7s Club serve for two years.

For those not familiar with the Mission of the USA7s Club, here is what appears in our bylaws:

USA7s, Inc. is a social club organized for pleasure, recreation, and other similar nonprofitable purposes and substantially all of its activities must be for these purposes.

The purpose USA7s, Inc is to enhance the LSiS ownership experience, promote camaraderie through regional and national activities and events, create awareness, and encourage favorable interest in LSiS and the club.

LSiS Definition = Lotus Seven inspired Sports car, A Front-Mid engine car that is, or that is inspired by, the original Lotus 7.

Hope you are all enjoying the start of summer and your cars.

Best,

Al Navarro

Co-Founder and Outgoing Club President

Thx Al. Your link takes us to a section where we can nominate folks for Prez, Sec & Treas and but it suggests getting their ok in advance. So before I nominate anyone, here are my suggestions and hopefully they will let us know if they approve. If so I will "officially" nominate them in the member's section.

Prez: Slingsht (East Coast)

Sec: Slo-move (West Coast)

Treas:?? Someone w/math skills want to throw their name in the ring? Croc?

Obviously there are tons of excellent other candidates, (Yellow SS,. Martin, Solder Guy).

Anyhow, hopefully folks I have suggested and those that others suggest, including self- nominees, will respond so they can be officially nominated and voted on. More than anything, it seems to me that the key will be the willingness of a nominee to serve.

.....Sec: Slo-move (West Coast).....

Ahem, blush, I am honored.

But I would like to respectfully decline the nomination.

I guess I am a bit out of the way which makes it not so practical and not much of a club function guy anyway. Actually the folks who know how unorganized I am would probably not want to see me in the function of a secretary, anyway :smilielol5:

I am happy to serve as the unofficial tour organizer :seeya:

I would not make a good president :(. My schedule is so packed, club matters will get neglected, and we really need someone to drive us to the next level (not over the curb :lolg: ).

I'm OK with serving as treasurer since the club bank account is local, and my accountant does the club taxes as part of my tax bill (free to the club), so it's really not much work.

Maybe John Ch can move to the middle of the country????

I (Martin) have to agree with slngsht and I decline any position for me as one needs to be able to devote the time to the club and group and my schedule just dose not accommodate that at this time.

Hope that the above makes scene.

I do second slngsht as the treasure because he honest and he has the ability and he has said he is willing to do it.

As current serving secretary (and former club President), I must say I have enjoyed the positions and the club much. Things in my life have changed in the last two years and I barely have time to make it to the this board anymore. I will not be seeking a reelection to this position but am willing to provide any info to the incoming officers. Be seeing you...

Martin:

I appreciate the thot but, like Slomove (and our out going prez/sec), I am too slammed at work, to do much more than daily roaming of the forum and an occasional blat/extended blat. Nearly 100% of my posts here have been from work (since I am self employed I don't have to worry abt my boss:)), so as you can see, I am here a lot. That's why I thot Al's idea to vet people before putting their names up made so much sense. Without enthusiasm AND time, it will be tough to do justice to the club.

  • 3 weeks later...

Bump.

Hey everyone! I'm back from a longish vacation that included time in Alaska.

From the club members thread on this topic, it looks like we might have a full slate of officers to vote on. Can someone confirm if Taber T. and his wife are truly interested in running? (Boxologist nominated them.)

The only change I'd suggest is to keep Mazda as the Treasurer-elect...he's had experience with filing the taxes, etc.

So that would mean the slate would be:

President: Taber T.

Secretary: Mrs. T.

Treasurer: Mazda E.

Additionally, it was suggested to me in a PM that we add some regional reps to the slate to help share the responsibility for running/growing the club among more owners/enthusiasts.

I suggest (adding an extra region to the PMer's suggestion) we could benefit from reps from the following regions:

- North Eastern (New England, NYC, MidAtlantic/DC)

- Southern (Atlanta, Florida, etc.)

- Central North (Ohio, Chicago, etc)

- Central South (to cover the Dallas and Houston seven concentration)

- Western (LA, San Francisco, Oregon, etc.)

Thoughts/input would be appreciated. Please comment in the members thread linked below.

Guys,

Thanks for the "vote of confidence" in myself and Joan, however, I became President of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Memorial Foundation in May, for a year-long term. That, added to my Director position on the National Association of Explosive Wastes Contractors (NAOC) another national organiztion, and my "day job" I am really busy. I've had to tell my boss that I must cut back on his hours for these "volunteer" jobs, but to me memorializing our EOD troops--two more died yesterday--and fundraising for our scholarship program--we are giving out $106,000 dollars in scholarships to children of EOD techs this year--I am too busy to even keep up with the nominations.

Thanks,

Taber

@Taber: Thanks for the follow-up on the nom. That means we still have vacancies for the pres/sec slots.

@Alaskossie: See the club members thread linked for one answer...we could just as easily mimic the geo divisions in the regional subforums.
