Mark seven

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm looking at a Seven that I would have sworn is the real thing except that it has F/G where the ally panels should be. There is no Lotus Cars plate but it does have a plate that says MARK SEVEN.

Does anyone know anything about this ? Google is unusually un-helpful. I may have uploaded a pic of the chassis plate, but then again, I may not have. Thanks.file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/JB/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-7.png

Regards,

Jon

It could be a Mark Seven Super Seven made by the Fejer brothers in Canada. On page 45 of the book "Lotus Seven and the Independents" they describe the cars that were built in the 80's as Toyota powered and had bodywork that was primarily fiberglass. If you have anymore details let us know.

It is a Fejer bulit Seven. I've seen the other pictures of it.... one (hot) car... I email the current owner, telling him the same thing.

Note: He's asking real Lotus money, thats for sure.

I agree with redisetgo that it is a Fejer 7. Mine is a Fejer 7 and it has the same setup for the heater. Another tell tale would be the steering lingage from the cowl to the rack is a twisted cable type used on old Ford pintos? instead of the typical u joints. Pictures of the front suspension would be a final clue if you can get them. The roll bar is the same as mine with no back bracing. Mine does not have a Mark Seven tag.

There is a pic of the front set up,....I'm 100% on it being a fejer. I only posted the side pic because it showed the most fire related carnage.....

picture is a little dark and not close enough to confirm front suspension, but steering linkage looks correct as I can pic out the steering pillow block that supports the flexible rod.

Does anybody have any knowledge on how many Fejers were produced?

I have a picture and short write up from Automotive News archives,1984, that Super Seven Sportscars Co. of Newmarket Ontario had won an order of 100 road-ready replicas of the Lotus Super 7 to Japan with a standby order of 200 more.

Engine and transmission by Toyota. I believe the original cars were produced with the Toyota 1600 2T engine from Corolla or Celica.

Does anybody have access to old issues of Automotive News to confirm?

My car has the plate showing the Super Seven Sportscars Co.

and was purchased out of Japan. It has the 2TG twin cam 1600.

So far I think there is only three of us on this site that have or had Fejers.

I have pics of about 5 or 6 (and a half, if you count the burnt one) and know if a couple more. I have some old articals about fejer cars and an old ad for them from "carmag". I'll email you everything I 've got. shot me your address.

Hi,

Thanks for the input. The car is actually not as bad as it looks. A good pressure washing to blow all the shite away and what you have left is a frame with basically intact running gear. It would need rewiring, re-piping etc. etc. A nice project for some industrious person. I am not that person. Thanks.

Best,

Jon Bathmaker

Hello all, I just joined the forum. Letting you know that I purchased this car. Jon is correct. It looks much worse than it is. The frame only has light surface rust on it from recent exposure to elements (in the picture showing the chassis number it looks like the frame tube is rotten but that is just the paint peeling and some shadows.) Frame, suspension, drivetrain (other than wiring), and the wheels are all good. Decent bones for a project. I have a Jensen Healey so I did have thoughts of using a 907 motor in a Seven (particularly after reading this article - http://gglotus.org/blog/tag/lotus-7/ ) but after seeing this car I was impressed by the little 2TC Toyota motor - alloy, cross-flow, pushrod hemi - not a lot of power but it looks right! It has a header and a single side-draught Weber so maybe the stock 70hp has been bumped to 76! When researching the engine I did find one racer in the US who managed to get 358hp out of a 2TC! Even a highly-modified 907 would be hard pressed to push that hard. Besides, I'm a sucker for the underrated and unwanted - as is obvious from my purchase.
