11Budlite Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Interesting choice for the engine. It should at least be a little more oil tight than a x-flow. No affiliation, etc: [/url]http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-LOTUS-SEVEN-REPLICA-BUILT-WESTFIELD-SPORTSCARS-/120784177664?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c1f4c4a00
lancylad Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I have the same engine in my Westfield, not earth shattering by any means but capable of providing typical Seven fun on twisty roads. Really doubtfull about the mileage stated, 4600 seems very low for a car of that age!! This is an import from Japan, the sticker on the bulkhead, Checker Motors, was the Japanese importer of these cars.
The Stig Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 The CVH engine was used in FWD escorts and possibly Fiesta in the UK. 130bhp seems optimistic to be honest and not a very tunable unit.
lancylad Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Some of these engines had the Hemi head and once ported and flowed, along with twin Webers and a good exhaust manifold and matching silencer, add a high lift cam. And 130 is definately doo-able.. Very simple engine to work on although parts can be a bit scarce at times. Not that it matters to much but 60MPH comes up in 6.5 secs. Not to bad for such a small industrial lump.
