This is a great car I have ridden in it several time on the street and the track. Handles like a dream, lots of power any time in any gear and great stopping power.

John engineered everything in this car and didn’t scrimp on anything. It’s a nice car with ton’s of fun and life left.

If he's serious about selling it, he should just come out and say it, and list his price.

Tom: Yes I am serious about selling this car. The price is mentioned several times in the attachments that are linked.

 

That is why I spent many hours loading 50+ pictures, (each with a description) into the http://www.photobucket.com/stalkerV8 site. That site along with the utube video are mentioned in several different forums.

 

The asking price is $52,500 OBO. Actual selling price will be dependent upon what race wheels, tires, computers, loggers, aero aids, etc., etc. are included with the car.

TO ACHIEVE THAT SPEED ARE YOU RUNNING A T56 TRANS AND WHAT GEAR RATIO IN THE REAR. IT APPEARS IN THE VIDEO THAT YOUR TIRES ARE QUITE SMALL IN DIAMETER, WHAT ARE THEY. SORRY BUT I'M JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW YOU GOT TO THAT SPEED.

The calculation used the following data: 6791 RPM from datalogger, 3.23 rear axle ratio, 0.82 5th gear ratio in the TREMEC TKO 600 5 speed trans, 71.3" actual measured tire circumference from Goodyear 22.5x10.0x13 slicks, 60 minutes per hour and 5280 feet per mile.

 

This yields 6791/(.82*3.23)*(71.3" /12) *(60 /5280) = 173.12 MPH

 

The RPM data was from my AIM EVO3 data logger on the quickest lap during timed session #1, measuring the tire with a tape measure, specs from TREMEC on the trans and counting teeth when I installed the differential gears.

 

The above neglects both tire slip (which I think is minimal because of the downforce at that speed) and tire growth because of centrifical force which I have no way of estimating.

 

Using the above formula it would require 7060 RPM or a larger tire to go 180 MPH if my math is correct. Because the soft rev limiter begins to retard timing at 7000 the engine will actually rev that high even if the limiter was not changed. I think the valve train would be OK to around 7500 but have never tried it. 200 MPH would require a narrower 80" tire to fit inside the fenders.

I have had the honor of driving John's car at Ambush.. We switched cars for a few min. to test handling differences between a standard super stalker and John's much modified V8 version. I was dying to experience the difference 500+HP would make...... For John, i'm sure it was no big deal, but for me WOW. When you hit the starter and the Hushpowers begin to rumble you know you're in a very powerful car...makes you a little nervous at first. Tapped the throttle a couple of times to see how quick the linkage was....normal. Put it in 1st and idled out on to the street. The first thing i noticed is that the car feels and sounds more solid or substantial than ours. I think this is due to the changes John has made in the shocks/spring rates. He said he has spent a lot of time dialing in his custom suspension for road racing. Expecting this thing to start doing loops..... I took it easy thru 1st and 2nd....Tested the steering and it was quick and tight. Shifted smoothly into 3rd...cruised up to 60 , checked the mirror and did a quick brake test back to naught.... jeez that was definitely satisfactory.... obviously not stock brakes like ours.

Ok sitting in the middle of the road time to see how this monster runs.

I Didn't start out in second so first lasted about 1 second. In second and third with r888s you are not required to apply full throttle to get the rear tires to break loose. Speed shifting into 4th also would not b wise but by the end of 4th your foot can be flat on the floor with no tire spin. The TkO 600 shifts so smoothly you don't remember shifting. The power is amazingly controllable and smooth. you just input enough peddle to keep it on the edge of traction. The car stays solidly on line.. " Torsen diff"

The acceleration is addictive. Its like a drag car that can also corner.

On the way back we went over a bridge with a sharp grade change that hurt when i went over it in our car. I braced myself but John’s went over it like it wasn’t there.

This is a great car.

None of us really need these cars. Isn't it all about fun and rewarding ourselves with a really neat playtoy? I've worked hard (and sometimes smart) most of my life and thought I deserved a really neat playtoy. So I built it, am proud of the result and like it a lot!

 

All of us could drive my car safely. It handles well and is quite predictable.

 

Just because it will go over 170 MPH does not mean that one has to drive it that fast. I can honestly say that I am comfortable driving it that fast. To me the only thing scary about the back straight at VIR is approaching the blind corner after the hill at the end of the straight. Many posters on this forum have expressed concerns about driving their cars at or over 100/120 MPH. This car is very stable at that speed.

 

Because it is based upon a modern Corvette engine with a proven driveline, it has been and should continue to be quite reliable. In fact the engine came with a 24 month/50,000 mile warranty. The 24 months has expired but GM must have had confidence in its longevity or they would not have offered that warranty.

 

A stock SuperStalker weighs around 1500 lbs +/-. The all aluminum V8 engine is actually lighter than the all cast iron V6 with a supercharger. The TKO600 trans, steel scattershield/ bellhousing, full belly pan/diffuser and wing aerodynamic package, additional frame stiffening, power steering, dry sump oil system, 15 gallon fuel tank with safety bladder and internal scavenge sump plus the Kirkey Seat and full roll cage add a net of about 125 lbs. The result is that the car is about 1625 lbs wet and ready to run.

 

In my opinion the additions have all added to the safety, street and track driveablity, performance, comfort, reliability and longevity of the car.

 

There are lots of very nice Sevens around. I just don't think there are any Sevens that can come close to the total package for anywhere near the price. I am also not aware of any Sevens that have been as successful in competition in the big magazine events like Run n Gun or the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge.

 

Just my opinion. I am sure that someone will correct me.

It's an awesome car, and I'm sure there's a speed demon out there that just needs to know it's for sale.

 

I like that V8 because it sounds like your never pushing it... no 7 grand rpms. Would be kind of a calming experience to me (as my nose hairs start to bleed).

I've seen this car in person at Run'N'Gun (that is my polished/black S2KR in the background of this pic). It is a seriously well built and sorted car. I later met John and was a very honest and straight forward guy. Whoever buys this car is going to be very happy with it.

I always liked to think Mojito was the fastest 7 in America.... LOL Till I raced John... :)

His Car is FAST and Awesome, But I am not sure its Just the Car. He is an amazing driver and Fearless !

It takes a special kind of man to buy (or build) and drive this kind of machine.

When you approach 3lbs per horse power in a street driven car you need to have a very clear head to stay alive... LOL

 

Just a thought:

John's car 530 hp/1625lbs= 3.06 lbs/hp $52,500

Indy car 650 hp/1600lbs= 2.46 lbs/hp $7,000,000

Bang for the buck.... that is a no brainer.... just sayin... :)

of course registering a indy car won't be easy and there is no additional seating capacities for passengers or groceries :rofl:

Thanks 7evin. I appreciate the kind words.

 

Actually it is not hard to drive. It is stable after you learn to control your right foot. It also has tons of torque. Therefore you don't have to shift often and is easy to keep in the very broad power band.

 

Just to be fair to the IndyCar crowd, maybe I should increase my asking price by a $ million or so. :):)

 

Seriously, I've decided to lower the asking price to $45K. This would be for the complete car in street trim. It would not include the computers, WBO2, 14 race wheels and slicks or the wing.

 

I have had serious discussions with about a dozen guys. They all seemed to have a wife problem, couldn't come up with the money or were afraid of the potential speed. No one said he thought it wasn't worth the asking price or felt he could duplicate what I built for what was being asked.

A fellow builder and love what you have done , I built a 723HP Ford Focus 2.0L Turbocharged ATX Trans street car, Ran very well at VIR and did the 1/4 in 10.95 @ 137MPH on DOT tires

 

I have to agree just because it makes 700+ HP doesnt mean you have to use it some times I think people must think its on the throttle or off the throttle and there isnt anything in between , It sure is nice to have it and not need it then need it and not have it

 

I would love to build a 300+HP 2.0 Zetec or Duratec in one of these cars but it would need to be for the right person as I understand that kind of power isnt for everyone
