Great Sunday Driving

I don't know about the rest of the country but the NYC region has been blessed this weekend with gorgeous weather. Karl and I got our cars out yesterday for a drive in NY state only to discover that everyone else is out enjoying the day as well. I think of it as a normal California driving day - gorgeous weather and jammed up traffic. Our litany of traffic jams was:

  • Rt 17 north
  • Perkins Drive at Bear Mountain Park
  • Palisades Parkway leading onto Bear Mountain Bridge
  • Rt 218 closed
  • Newburgh (now this is one scary town)
  • Rt 6 exit off the I-87
  • Rt 17A

At this point we gave up and decided to head to a bar. Parking lot was full of bikes so they turned us away.

The one highlight was visiting Orange County Choppers of TV fame. They had a Ford Mustang Club event on. So we drive in to the place and see two signs - spectators and show cars. So we headed down the show cars area. Karl does a victory lap in the roundabout to show off and I head off down to park next to the Mustangs. :cooldude: We sort of stole the show as everyone came over to check us out. They liked our cars once I said we had Ford engines.

Despite the crap driving, I had a great day in the sun. Did not think about work once and had zero stress. I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves this weekend.

Sunday was a great day here in the St.Louis area. My wife & I hopped in the Ultralite, and joined with the MG Car Club for a mini rally of about 50 miles, which ended up at one of the local wineries near Augusta.

Two other local sevens were also in the mix.

Had some wine and cheese, and a liesurely drive home, Only bad thing was the Cardinals lost their game.

It was nice here in Iowa.

I pulled the car out of its corner in the garage and picked it off the wheel dollies.

Hopped in and twisted the ign key...."Klink!" Tried again..."Klink!'

Starter has crapped the bed. I have to pull the drive train to access one of the three starter bolts.:cuss:

Till next spring then.....

I went out to the local Hot Rod "Cars and Dinner" show on Friday night. I was the smallest car there until some guy in a souped up Smart car showed up. I should have gone out Saturday or Sunday as the weather was fantastic but had house work to do. Russ
