Knowing Stuart Mills, who designed the Sonic 7, I really think that it is a number that just sounds good with the word Sonic. I'm sure he doesn't see it as a real alternative to the Seven ethos. He is certainly very prolific in bringing out new models and seems to have a new one every month. He usually sells the rights to MEV (Mills Extreme Vehicles) after a little while to Road Track Race.

Not sure if I agree with you Croc "A Sonic 7 is a modern interpretation of the traditional seven."

Bit late in responding! :p I dont mind if you do not agree. I was not quite sure what to call it and I was trying to be considerate and polite to the owner. Anyway it is an interesting vehicle to my mind. How does it compare to your seven? ;)
