Just Trying to Keep Up with Croc

I knew I should have gotten the 14:1 compression ratio pistons when ordering the motor. The Dyno Dynamics is known as the heart breaker. Still, I think that some mapping would help.

I'll never be as fearless as Croc and Kitcat in the corners, so I'll have to make it up on the straights.

 Are you nucking futs? Forgive my reaction but I am not sure this is a good idea... You have a precision machined engine component that you are going to just modify by laying into it with a grinder? How will you know you have taken enough off by just looking at it? Or do you have to put it all back together to turn over by hand to make sure it is not rubbing? I think you want a pro to do this for you using the clearance specs of the cam that SBD should have given you.

Good news, only two cam lobes needed additional clearance. So the grinder came out (sorry Croc) to take off a couple of millimeters in two spots. The head is off the car and getting put back together tonight. Just waiting on the uprated head studs and head gasket from Cosworth.

As an interesting aside, the cam to cam bucket clearance was not as good as it should have been. With any luck the motor will be better than new soon.

Karl:

I am looking forward to the new hp/torq graphs. I will guestimate 20 more hp and 3 lbs torq. That wld make your already very impressive 2.3 liter, naturally aspirated motor even more impressive. You seem very close to upper limits here. 9500 rpm's is really wild, I cant wait to hear it at NJMP!

The March 9 track weekend is going to be very interesting for a whole bunch of reasons to Karl and myself. If he does not blow up then I will be spinning off with the Mustang with its maiden voyage at NJMP on crappy BFG T/A rubber. :iamwithstupid:

Would you mind? :boxing: USS Mustang will be setting sail on track with twin 3 inch straight pipes. I will give you a good dose of nicely warmed carbon monoxide and other non-environmentally friendly particulates when you try and pass my 'Lurchmobile.' For seconds I have air horns playing "Dixie" reflecting that I am a true Southerner.

I would also not recommend being in front of me in a braking zone - its quicker to stop 70,000 tons of Queen Mary 2 ocean liner  although your seven might be useful as a wheel chock?

I think it is time for you to post a photo of your Mustang: I consider it to be one of the coolest looking varients out there. Perhaps it even deserves its own thread to help focus the drool:)?

So, I got the cams and MBE 9A4 ECU. The dyno results show 263 rear wheel HP in Dynojet numbers. So, if I assume a 15% drivetrain loss am I at 309 Brake HP??? Either way it sure sounds good! The tuner tells me that the Mainline dyno he uses is very conservative and to compare to others using the Dynojet numbers.

yeah yeah yeah....use the other hand! They all say that!

All jokes aside, it sounds impressive. I will definitely be giving the point bys this weekend (in my mustang)
