Advice needed: is a Seven a good idea for me?

Many years ago I dated a woman who could have been a body and face double for Dolly Parton. Put a platinum wig on her and they would have looked like twins.

 

I used to tell her that we could walk down the street holding hands and I could have been stark assed naked and no one would have noticed.

We parted ways after about six months. She wanted to move in and had the audacity to ask me to pay for a breast reduction. She (and I) was tired of the constant attention and guys hitting on her, sometimes even right in front of me.

One thing you might think about is that these things attract more attention than Dolly Parton's chest. You get tired of it, actually. I've never actually met Dolly Parton, although she sings well, I hear.

 

You listenned ? I just stared. Didn't know she could sing, didn't care.

So Skip, do a comparo for us: Which of the two sex bombs drew more interest, Ms. Busty or the Caterham (My money is on the Caterham)?

 

I agree with Ayseven, it would be nice to just once gas-up without fielding all those questions!

That would have been Ms. Busty. Every male's and most female's eyes would be on her, none of them making eye contact. It was amazing how many people would stop in their tracks to watch her walk by. I was totally ignored.

 

The Caterham gets a lot of attention but people around here are so used to seeing it that I can gas up without a lot of questions, generally just getting a few "cool car" type comments.

If I may interrupt this fine conversation about Dolly Parton lookalikes:

 

Had a fantastic time yesterday when rnr was so kind to lend his time and his Superlite for some test-driving, and it reminded me just how special these kind of cars are. It's so much fun feeling the excitement of how the car drives, and then looking around and noticing that you're hardly going faster than the rest of traffic. This thing makes any driving fun, without needing a track or a massive speeding ticket.

 

It cemented my thinking that I WILL own one of these kinds of cars... one day.

 

Sadly, yesterday also reminded me of the endless list of impracticalities this car has compared to the Elise that was conveniently sitting next to it. Combine that with living downtown SF, with no convenient/affordable private garage nearby, no mechanical ability (yet), and it being my only car (and thus needing it for practical purposes once in a while), I decided that it may be a bit dumb to buy one right now.

 

So the verdict is, likely Elise now, 7 later, when I don't live downtown anymore, and have a garage where I can have it as my 2nd car, and take my sweet ass time working on it if need be.

 

I'll sell the Cayman S in July, and probably buy an Elise right after. I'll maybe organize some test drives in the time in between, to ensure it is really what I want, but I can't imagine there are any alternatives.

 

Oh and maybe I should take the Cayman to the track one more time before I sell it :p

 

Thanks everyone for their comments, y'all made making an informed decision about this very easy, and hopefully I'll be back in a few years or so :)

She was surprisingly low maintenance until she started bugging me for the breast reduction. I have spent far more on the Caterham than on her, in fact, $500 today for a new stainless steel muffler and side exit exhaust.

Well, six months into the relationship with your new exhaust, it will only sound better and you won't find it begging you for a reduction in capacity.

I hope so, the exhaust tone has changed dramatically and not for the better. It has lost that zippy high performance sports car sound. It is also much quieter than before which is strange since the exit is just below my left ear and it is a straight through 3" ID MagnaFlow muffler.
