Nick OTeen
When I stumbled upon this I just had to hop out and take a picture. Just after I pressed the shutter a lady walked up and asked, "What kind of car is that?" Without hesitation I answered, "It's a Wienermobile." Nick OTeen
I was there last Saturday. Big turnout. I'll shoot for going again in two or three weeks. I'm working on a bit of a modification to the car that should be ready by then (fingers crossed). I also did the all-British car show up in Woodley park (Van Nuys) a couple weeks back. Huge show. http://i43.tinypic.com/t55big.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/nvps49.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/195k6.jpg ps - No Cars & Coffee (Irvine) on May 4 due to the Marathon nearby. HankMauel
Cool photo. I remember the old wienermobiles from my youth (early 1950's). See one every now and again cruising Hwy 80 in Northern California, on the way to enrich a new generation of youngster's lives. In the good old days, we actually got hotdogs from "Lil Oscar" at events. Nothing like an icon that is carried forward by it's founding company! Long live the wienermobile! I was also there and we talked a bit but did not know you were a member of this forum. The Queen's English was a very big success and had over 500 British cars at the show. The Blue Lotus 7 that you parked next to is Jay Leno's as it came out of the same trailer that brought his Elan in and parked on the other side of the 7. I have to say you 7 dose look very good in person and sure did shine. Hope to see you again in the local area. :driving:
Nick OTeen
The blue Lotus 7 actually belongs to a friend of mine. He bought it several years ago after its original owner - another long time friend - passed away. That gentleman owned the car from it was new in 1963. The friend that owns the Lotus 7 now is also the one who built up that immaculate Elan (which I also had a bit of involvement with) for Jay Leno using a NOS Lotus factory 26R body. We brought the two cars (the Lotus 7 and Elan) over in a friend's trailer so that's why they were together. After the show we trailered them back to Leno's shop with me following in the Caterham. It truly was a great show and I enjoyed talking with you. I certainly was not expecting it to be such a big turnout. I ended up taking over 350 pictures that day.
