Brunton Stalker at MSR Cresson 1.7 ccw

Looks like fun. Interesting track. What was your top speed? Doesnt look like it has any really long straight stretch? So, perfect for our cars.

Track configuration for the day was the 1.7 mi course, run ccw. There are four passing zones and no really long straights; perfect track for a Seven. My top speed for the day was in the neighborhood of 135mph, just prior to entering turn 2. The photo below depicts the track layout with the passing zones highlighted. All the turns are numbered in relation to the 3.1 mi setup. The 1.7 mi course was the original track for Cresson; all turns have good ole’ Western names. Also, here’s the link for MSR Cresson.

It looks like you have the ccw lines worked out. What kind of lap times were you running? I wanted to make it up there to watch you run, but work schedule has been relentless. It looks like you were running pretty quick. I think 1:19 was my fastest ever up there. I typically ran low 1:20 with street tires.

Loren,

Pretty good run group that day (lots of cars on the track; anywhere from eleven to eighteen cars per session). My best estimated time for the day was around 1:22. Do you have any videos with overlay data?

1.22 is some quick lap times. That was about where I was the first 4 or 5 events at Cresson. I did have an instructor that helped me shave a bit off my times. My 1.19 was a perfect lap for me. I was able to nail every corner just right. It looks like you passed just about everyone on the track which is always fun.

I never had a video camera that worked great. I did have built in lap timer in my Digital dash that I noted best lap times. I haven't been on the track for a few years. All the cameras available at the time that worked well were 600.00 or so. I just didn't want to spend that kind of money on video equipment at the time. There are much better affordable camera options available now. Which camera are you using? Your video quality and camera angle works well. Wind noise seems to be an issue with most cameras. A remote mic is needed to get the best sound.

My camera is the Replay HD1080. Great camera, but sound quality is somewhat lacking. One would think with today's technological advances, a camera could be built (and affordable) with good built-in sound quality. I had an external mic and played with various locations in the car prior to the Cresson event, but no matter where I put the mic, sound quality was poor at best. I even used a wind sock and had the mic out of the slip stream. I tried a new location for Cresson; under-dash, yet untested. But, as stated in an earlier post, I forgot to turn on the mic . . . next time. :willy_nilly:

In session six, I did end up passing all the cars in my group; even put a full lap on three of them. Knowing how hard I had to drive to get a 1:22, my hat is definitely off to you for your 1:19!:hurray:

I think those aluminum fenders you sold me are slowing me down! :smilielol5:

I think it's the fancy louvers on those fancy fenders that is the problem. :)

Looks like a great little track there. Gears sound tight, like a rifle bolt. Nice.

Next time, more sideways..

The sounds heard during shifting are the face-plated gears in the tranny. It's loud and klunky (is that a word?), but it's a different animal vs. a stock TKO . . . well pleased.

Was Pete Chalinar there with his green Birkin. He is so fast. Don't quote me but I think he runs in the mid teens 1:15-1:16 range. He knows the track and is a fantastic driver.

He was not; I was the only representative of Seven-esque owners. 1:15-1:16 range . . . Guess I'll have to drill some more holes in those front fenders! :svengo:
