Just Curious About Caterham Sales

Recommended Posts

There is certainly a lot going on in this thread haha. I work at Superformance and yes we are aware of what we are undertaking. Our goal is basically to make sure Caterham Sevens are available for viewing and purchasing nationwide. Although many of the news reports note that we will be making use of the existing Superformance network of dealers, we are always trying to expand that network. Now that does not mean any of these dealerships are owned by Superformance; they maintain their autonomy and we facilitate import and distribution to them. Technical stuff aside, Superformance dealerships are dealing with people making big, passion driven purchases all the time. We're not about selling and moving on. I feel the need to mention this because it seems a lot of people are under the impression that Superformance is a big, cold company, when in reality we are a largely family run place and we all love what we do. Long story short, we hope your positive purchasing experience do not change, we just want to give more people that experience. If you have any questions you can reach me at maral@superformance.com or call me directly at 949-900-1963.

Having owned three SPF roadsters (24 in all, Mr Muck can fill you in on me :D ), I am well aware of how Superformance operates. :cooldude:

I am also well aware of the dealer network, and the reasoning behind having "authorized resellers" :jester:

I have heard that dealerships must commit to buying "X" # of Caterhams to sell and must also commit "X" dollars to a Caterham advertisement campaign. Seems like a serious effort is being made to morph from kitcar to turnkey with dealer support.

If I were trying to build awareness of the Caterham brand, I would want to associate with Caterham's racing success and build on that. There is a thread here abt 4-5 Caterham SCCA racers in Texas. I'd want to know them. I'd talk about the street legal race car that the Caterham is.

Friendly car mag reviews are worth their weight in gold.

I'd want to associate myself with the USA7s East Coast get together. Lottsa Caterhams (and other se7ens), lottsa enthusiasm. I read on another car site that someone had witnessed us and said: "They have an almost religious devotion to the Caterham brand." My thot was:"You mean its not a religion?"

Mike - We are possibly the largest annual Caterham/sevens gathering in the US these days although there is a strong Texas contingent that get together from time to time. Both Tom and I thought it would be really neat to invite the manufacturers to lift the profile of our cars for just the track day participation cost. I approached Superformance soon after they took over. It was really too soon as they were not interested. I will try again next month. Tom has made George Alderman aware and I would love to see him there given his significant racing history with sevens. He has been a long standing supporter of Caterhams. We have also alerted Dave Hutchison of R&R who is (or was?) a Birkin dealer in PA. Its a bit (a lot!) far for Brunton Auto and Manik (Westfield) to expect them join in but they would be welcome if they wanted to participate.
