Um. Hasn't anyone told him about the pre-race ceremony? You know, the one that you MUST do before racing a vintage car or else you anger the Lotus gods and a piston goes through the oil pan?

Thanks for all the well wishes. Weather was great, good turnout cars, donors and the Seven lives on.

A well maintained twin cam that has reasonable carbonation settings and isn't run at too high an RPM will live a long time. The trouble is the higher they are reved the better they sound.

Ahhh, yes. As I recall the twin cam in my Elan was the only engine I ever owned that *needed* a tach. It sounded marvelous and kept pulling strongly right up through redline.

You are correct, most cars I've driven run out of oomph 500-800 RPM before redline and grabbing another gear before redline is faster. Not so the twin cam she pulls right up and through the redline if allowed, luckily I have an old rev limiting ignition rotor. I've only ever hit it a couple times but it is a reason I have not gone Pertronix as yet.
