  1. Agree with Pete above. My experience(on my step van) with bent aluminum brackets in a high vibration environment has shown them to be distressingly short lived.
  2. I'd be interested in the fenders if it doesn't work out.
  3. Side Exhaust, thinking on trying rear exit but wonder if there will still be the resonation noise at the muffler or only at the exit? Thanks
  4. I have a 1998 kit super sport, can someone tell me if the stock muffler is a glass pack? The car had 1800 miles when I bought it, now has 3200. I swear it's much louder now than when I got it, the resonation in the around town driving range of 2000 to 3200 rpm vibrates your head! Am I imagining this? My hearing was damaged long ago from other life experiences so this really gets old quickly, Ear plugs seem to make it worse, doesn't block the low pitch. Thanks
  5. There was a long discussion on blatchat about how some found factory ford hypoid oil quieter than others. http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=216448 Unfortunately the particular part # doesn't seem to be available in the USA. Has anyone experience with this oil or where it may be found? My differential is reasonably quiet except for a consistent whine at 41-44 mph. Another question - I have a 1998 De dion chassis, can anyone give me the details on the differential? (4:10 gears I think) what make? limited slip? Thanks
  6. The Caterham I bought last August was titled and registered in Conn. in 2000 through 2012, it had bumpers on it but no other changes, so Sergeant inspector is wrong. I still have the bumpers but mine is a S3 so I don't know if they will fit. I just last week received my sticker in MA. after 9 months of fighting so I feel your pain. The Montana option is illegal in MA. Best of luck
  7. Here is one picture I found, I had found another better one, but can't find it again.
  8. Does anyone have pictures of rear exhaust exits? I'm going to have one made up, from what I have read it needs to "turn out" behind the rear tire to keep fumes from being pulled back into the car. Looking for style ideas. Thanks
  9. Congratulations Bill, you and Chris are welcome
  10. Thank you for the replies and definitely for the battery suggestion. But I still don't know what holds the panel besides the screws, it seems quite secure with the screws out and I don't want to just start yanking on it.
  11. All cars above a (insert your arbitrary number here) HP/weight ratio and of course those that "just look to fast" - After all they only have one purpose. http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2526877
  12. Hi all. Does anyone know how the "knee trim" panels are held in place on a S3? To get to the windscreen stanchion bolts they have to come out. The bottom edge is behind the top of the interior side panel with a row of sheet metal screws. How it is held at the top end is not obvious. It is behind the leather covered trim (is that push on welt?) that surrounds the dash and the edge of the aluminum skin of the scuttle. It appears at the least it was put in before the door "guards" pulled things tight. I did check that there are washers and nuts and not the optional "nut plate" on the stanchion bolts. Thanks
  13. I also bought my car from CT in 8/12, It had been registered as a "composit" in 2000. Because of the problems registering in MA, I had looked into the CT requirements where it had been registered, they seemed reasonable and straightforward (I understand the need to trailer to the inspection). MA is now not so easy, after all this time (7 months) (and Money), I am almost done.
  14. Moved my Caterham on a U Haul with no problem.
  15. That explains the bumpers that were on my Caterham when I bought it.
  16. No affiliation or connection http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/cto/3727451627.html
  17. Thank You for the reply. I feared after posting it really wasn't the place for that question, It's just that your project was just the sort of thing I had in mind when I got my mill. Great job on the tail lights and your CNC!
  18. Can you tell me what mill and CAD/CAM you are using? I'm lucky enough to have a CNC Bridgeport (2 1/2 of them actually). Unfortunately I don't have a clue how to program/run it. Thought if I got the mill I'd think of things to make and learn, hasn't quite worked out that way.
  19. Thanks all - I knew there would be great ideas
  20. Thanks, I should have said I'm not into the carbon fiber look, maybe mat black vinyl if no other options.
  21. I have the anodized aluminum side exhaust heat shield and want to change it to black. Is the black version anodized, powder coated or what? Also what are the options for black rear fender protectors? Mine are polished SS. Thanks
  22. Very interesting, love to see a drawing of the suspension.
  23. Thanks Skip, I will try cleaner/polish, but what I'm really asking is if anyone has experienced this, it looks like the spots are in - not on the vinyl, like the material itself has degraded somehow. I should say the top is like new otherwise.
  24. The top that came with my car has been rolled up for 15 years, the clear vinyl windows have small (3/32") white spots throughout. There is some areas that have a surface texture similar to the top fabric that overlay/match the spots suggesting it had to do with contact with the top fabric all that time. But the spots are consistent throughout all areas of the clear vinyl - there could not be consistent contact from the folded/rolled storage so it must a issue with the clear vinyl itself. Any suggestions? Thanks
