  1. Hunt Valley Cars & Coffee with a Lotus go kart. The only thing smaller than the 7 there!! Jim
  2. Or consider a poured seat as in many formula cars. Super comfortable but take some skill to do well. Look at Pegasus. If you don’t fit with no seat in???? jim
  3. Yee hah! See you there. Jim
  4. That's awesome! Thanks for the info. Jim
  5. I’ve been waiting to register and keeping an eye on the weather like everyone else. Given I need to rent a truck to bring up my trailer and need to cancel that as well as a reservation I made at Fairfield inn, I’m afraid I’m going to cancel. I was happy when it got rescheduled since we were out of town when it was originally scheduled. Oh well. Hope to see everyone next year! Added some pics of the Jim Clark Museum I went to while in Scotland. Small but worth the trip. About an hour southeast of Edinburgh. Gotta go if your a Lotus fan. Jim
  6. I have a Speedhut speedometer as well and have had it for 7 years without any issues. I put the wire for my antenna thorough the center hole in the scuttle used for the wiper washer. Has a digital gauge at the bottom that allows for measuring 0-60 times, has a clock, altimeter and digital speed. Works well!
  7. I used this when I did mine: Medium Mesh Stainless, #6 x .035 Wire (6 openings per inch). Bought at Pegasus auto racing. Made a template of the opening with cardboard then used that to trace onto plywood and used that as a buck to bend it over. Used aviation snips to cut the wire. Sits behind the 7 grill and held in place with small zip ties. Works well to keep bugs, tire rubber and stones out of the radiator. I’m in Owings Mills if you want to see what mine looks like. jim
  8. Awesome- I'll be there now!! Still on Lightning or on Thunderbolt??

    My 7

Well that should be QUITE the interesting ride!!! Traction control??
  10. Hate to miss this year but coming back from Ireland/Scotland on 9/10. So..... guess I'll see everybody next year. Going to try to get to the the Jim Clark museum while in Scotland! Enjoy and keep em all on the black stuff. Jim
  11. Thanks for the responses guys. Hopefully I’m there next year.
  12. FOS is on my bucket list and since I’m retiring in 6 months- I’d love to go in 2024. Too late to get tickets or arrange to get to the FOS this year but interested if anyone here has gone, details on where to stay, seating etc.. Appreciate any information. Thanks! Jim
  13. Looking good Mike. With all the mods- looks like you've got any extra 50 lbs just in wiring! Look forward to seeing this one day as I'm sure do you. Jim
  14. Hey Vlad- Congrats on the new addition. Let us all know how the car seat fits in the 7!! Jim
  15. Thanks to Mike and Tom for setting up this event as always. Had a blast chasing everyone around and renewing friendships in the paddock and at dinner. Jim
  16. 2001 SLR, Vovchandr and I have very similar cars both being SLR's. Check to see if your nose and wings are carbon fiber. They should be on an SLR. Your engine is similar to how mine started although mine has been modified since I bought it. Don't have any idea on the key for your wheel covers since mine came without them as well as Vlads. I have the same header 'socks' as yours and given your location, this car was probably put together by Chip Bond at GT Classics in Charlottesville, VA. Quite the nice barn find!! Jim
  17. I’ll be there. Thanks Mike and Tom. Hopefully still with some tires. Not easy getting Avons these days. Trying to win NO awards this year!! Hoping to see Catkong as well. Jim
  18. Vlad, Seeing as we have (or at least started with) the same car- I run Avon ACB 10's on mine. Rear 245/45-13. Front 195/50-13. Available in a couple different compounds. Excellent on track. Terrible in the wet! They've been fine for me on the street and actually seem to last pretty well. Mine only sees rain by accident so they work well for me. Available from Roger Kraus or Sasco. Probably quite a lead time on them unless they've got them in stock. Let me know if you want more info. Jim
  19. Looking forward to another event and seeing the group. Think I'll leave my new bonnet at home this year and bring the 'track bonnet' Jim
  20. Raced a Vee for 5 seasons. A Womer EV-3. Great way to learn how to carry speed into turns in a low momentum car. And draft as well. I remember the first time I ever felt what it's like to be in a draft. Following someone down the straight at 80 mph with your foot off the gas and you 6" behind them is quite the thrill! Jim
  21. Probably sounds stupid but the floor mats are not the same from right to left and can make it look like they don't quite fit. Almost took an x-acto knife to mine when I got them, UNTIL I put them into the correct footwell and saw they fit just fine. So..... might want to check that. Jim
  22. Too funny- we're really all very similar. BAC Mono-absolutely! (if could only afford) Westfield 11- Uh huh. Xanthos 23- you bet. Lotus elan- of course!! Don't forget the Europa. Waiting to retire to hopefully do one of them. Well- not the Mono And don't forget there are alot of track options that will perform just as well/better than many of the above for significantly less money. Any older/vintage Formula car is a blast to drive on track although not any good for track days as you'll find very limited groups to run with and more safety issues than in a seven. Join a vintage racing group. There's always somebody to play with. Jim
  23. Sorry guys- just home from the office! Mine looks similar to the green car but mounts into a boss on one of the down legs of the roll bar. Easy to put in place/remove. Not really sure it does much for safety but can't hurt to have another mount into the frame. If you need exact pics of mine let me know and I'll try to get them to you. Jim
  24. Stay- they hold the rubber gaiter on. Jim
  25. I'm honored by my debris rock but certainly wish I didn't need to receive it! Would like to thank everyone for apparently missing my bonnet and not flattening it out anymore than it was. And to echo everyone else- Thanks to Mike and Tom for again putting together a great event. Jim
