  1. Found these Lotus related parts for sale on Craigslist Wichita, Kansas. They are located south of Wichita about an hour. https://wichita.craigslist.org/pts/d/arkansas-city-lotus-engines-and-parts/7274954638.html
  2. Thank you Astro Bob for your soapbox rap!! It was good meeting you at the Ambush you mentioned. I found your conversations with others to be very interesting, since I am a non college graduate. I learned a lot. I believe that was your first Ambush. I have attended a few over the years. I let those you spoke of drive their pace and I always fall back and let them wait for me to catch up at turns onto various roads. But, I do take exception to you calling me stupid!! I had much fun following your buddy in the black Corvette and Bob Berube in his Stalker. I did notice you took off on your own and in my caring way, I thought perhaps you had gone to the gas station. I waited nearly twenty minutes at our first turn for you, but alas you never came. So I finally drove all alone to our destination for lunch. No foul - just missed communication on my part. Again, I'm glad I meet you and am glad that you are enjoying your Corvette, since I also do. 3. yes, the WCM Ultralite went to Houston it was a light blue color. Full canvas top, doors, air conditioning. A Stalker owner in Florida had rear exhaust on his car and a roof fabricated in aluminium. He and his daughter traveled to all US mainland states. Another Stalker owner fully hard topped his car and had put air conditioning and heating in but never hooked those up. So, kind of like Apple and Samsung ---- copy, modify, update, make better.
  4. The Diva looks a little like a Panoz with a seven nose, slightly different rear fender lines too. http://www.wirewheel.com/1992-Panoz-Roadster-for-sale.html Dale
  5. I pulled my 2.0 Zetec out the top set it on 2x4s across the frame to pull the head. Trans stayed put. I didn't even unhook the 0il pressure gauge plastic tubing from the engine. replaced the clutch release bearing before going back together. Dale
  6. Here's the deal. The Stalker was developed from a 2.8 GM v6 platform. Then the SC 3.8 became the engine of choice, but after one was converted to a v8 then most folks seemed to do the v8's. Scott took over and redesigned the Stalker into the M-Spec, but still offers that in a classic body style. Now they have out the Miata based model line. A 4 cylinder will fit in a Stalker and this is an example (the one and only I believe). http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=17181 There was one builder who went electric Stalker. There may be more Stalker knowledgeable owners that could verify or dispute this. Dale Birkin S3 Stalker V6 3.4na Lotus Europa S2
  7. This is strange. My Birkin came with a windscreen with electric heating lines (visible up and down lines and the electric connections each side). It has lights on the outer upper edge of the front fenders (rear stock lamps visible from side. It has a heater with blower motor. It has a shield over the cat and muffler area. It has the windscreen washer nozzles. These were all factory items. Kansas does not have inspections and I transferred the title over from Oklahoma like a normal car. Kansas simply added a notation that it was a replica. Sorry you are having this registration issue. Dale
  8. Stalker in Indiana just came up for sale. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5766415684.htmlhttp://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5766415684.html. The son has listed it for his dad who recently passed away.
  9. The Birkin, if it has a Bikini top will keep the sun off but allow air flow. Drivers left arm will sunburn and passengers right arm. Adding the doors will keep the side winds from blowing your ears off. The Birkini makes it much more bearable. Dale
  10. There are Stalkers in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. I'm in Kansas and have a Birkin and Stalker. Dale
  11. I forgot -- TA/Flying J and Petro - Pilot truck stops have apps for your smart phone and will locate those along your route. Dale
  12. You might try locating some seven car owners along your travel path. There are long stretches between Denver and Kansas on I-70, so plan fuel stops closely. Goodland is first stop in Kansas, then Salina, Topeka and lastly Kansas City. In a normal car Denver to Kansas City is a good days drive (at 75 to 80 mph). Denver to Goodland will be flat, not much to see and could be very windy cross traffic. Kansas on I-70 will have some rolling hills. Missouri will be flat again with a few hills. There are some Locost, Caterham and Stalker owners in the Lawrence and Kansas City area. I think there are Stalker and WCM Ultralite folks in the St. Louis area. The side doors are very good for longer trips and if the car has a Birkini it will be very helpful keeping the sun shadowed. All others suggestions are valid. 13. On the other side of that coin, Sherron bought a Birkin and loves it. I took her to see them and take a test ride. She's been a proud owner since 2006. Her and I drove to the top of Pikes Peak with her small Yorkie dog. She can't get in an Elise, but does get in the Europa and Stalker.
  14. Shane, The ring: simple, elegant, classy, just the right touch!!
  15. Kitcat, it is listed twice under mountain and great lakes. the one under great lakes worked. http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=17803
  16. There is a green with yellow stripe S4 near Wichita, Kansas. I believe it lives in a garage most of the time.
  17. I originally used an old black with red stitching quilted welders cap, until I left it on the back deck when filling with gas and it went flying somewhere in Wisconsin. Now I have a chefs hat with mesh/screen on top, which I asked a manager from a Bob Evans restaurant for. Yep, I'm cheap that way.
  18. My old 1999 Birkin has modified Porsche 914 seats with adjustable headrest. Re-padded with foam from from aircraft spruce?? And covered in cloth centers with vinyl sides. They are fairly flat in the seat area so extra padding under your thighs near the knee is needed (for a more bucket look/feel), so your legs won't get tired on the longer trips. We have done 300 mile day trips with no tiredness. DJ

  20. Try contacting Folis Jones. n57fj@verizon.net He runs zetecs in his Birkin with Massive heads I believe. He may have some ideas.
  21. The sevens market is not as deplete as we think. The Locost folks are alive and well and some have really fit and finish builds. Most are interested in the more true seven-type aspects, of light weight, small engine, fun driving experience. Nothing wrong with the V8 or V6 models, but so not necessary in such a light weight machine. And, with the modern day 3 and 4 cylinder engines by adding supercharging and turbo charging there is nice power to be gained. And - folks - there is absolutely nothing wrong with putting a 4 cylinder in a Stalker chassis. One exists with a GM Ecotec Turbo from a Pontiac Soltice and is producing somewhere around 300 plus hp. There is a Stalker chassis with Electric motor. I've seen rotary, Alfa Romero, Volks Wagon, Honda, Suburu, Ford, Gm, Miata, Toyota, Triumph, MG, Electric, Motorcycle, and other engines in the seven-type. When you build it is your choice to make it your own. When you buy it your choice to rebuild. My Birkin with its Ford Focus Zetec 4 cyl runs just fine and provides great enjoyment. My Stalker V6 3.4 na is also a fine example of seven-type motoring (it is auto crossed) and road driven. My old Lotus Europa with 80hp isn't fast, but handles well on the auto cross circuit. I enoy going to the Stalker Ambush in Georgia, but I am not a capable enough driver to keep up with the Supercharged Stalkers or V8. This doesn't mean I don't have the fun factor of open road - in nature - driving. I attend the Mid West sevens events it other seven-type owners. A slower paced very social-able event and learning what others have done to their sevens. A mixed event of Caterham, Birkin, WCM Ultralite, Stalker, Westfield, Leich, and naturally Locost (others). My Lotus journey began in Germany in 1968. I applaud the folks that build the kits and the Locost folks who begin from scratch (a pile of tubes, and parts). The cheapest (by price) finished and on track Locost I saw was a hand-hammered aluminium skinned BMW running gear one. It's cost to build was $2,000. Keith Tanner wrote a book of his Maita powered build. So, I guess what I am saying is: you can spend the money for a kit or turnkey car, or start from scratch. The " fun " factor is the same throughout the seven world. You can road drive or track it. Wouldn't it be GREAT if the American racing circuits had the turn out of sevens they have in England on race day? Or like the European seven owners have get road driving events? Like the European group that container shipped their cars to the USA for a 3,000 mile trip? Hopefully we will have 12 to 15 seven-type cars in Galena, Illinois for the Mid West event. The Stalker Ambush - open to all sevens now - had around 12 last year in Georgia. Colin Chapman had in mind to replace the seven with the Europa. Fortunately, for all of us, one of his suppliers came to the rescue and the Seven (Caterham) lived on. Many variations of which came forth and gave us a wide choice of marques. Its not just the buy or build gratification in the sevens community, but a comradery (sp), passion that emerges, when owners get together, and share ideas. Have fun, build or buy, but please get out and enjoy the ride!!
  22. Get some ideas at jeep headlight images. (googe search images) Unfortunately most are 7 inch and mine are 5 -1/2.
  23. Powderbrake, Wasn't Chuck Spera (2 Ultralites) located in Minnesota? And there is a Stalker V6 owner near St Paul/Minneapolis - Brent Swartz (xr7locost knows him) and he would be glad to talk about the Stalker if it's not too far from you. xr7locost, Isn't there a light blue Caterham near you in Chicago (they came to the 7's get together when it was up there). Also, are you ready for Mays get together in Galena?? Dale
  24. One stalker owner used gutter down spout pieces cut to length. I think he used 15 pieces. Price is low. I don't know if he still has them in his tank.
  25. Check with Tom Carlin in Eagle, Colorado. Birkin Direct!! Tom is the importer/distributor for Birkin in USA now.
