I'm told that Pineview would be quite fun in a Se7en.

I am happy to report that a set of the ZZR 333 compound are on their way. Will update with feedback later in the summer;)
-
Thanks for spearheading this, Dez. I have come to really love New York Safety Track (near Oneonta, NY) in the Se7en, and plan to go on Monday, June 19th with the "Dog House Track Days" group. Would love to see other Se7ens there, too!

I've ordered a Tracsport LSD from Steve Perks and will aim to report on it this spring. Happy Holidays, New Year, etc to all my fellow Se7en drivers!

Has anyone here tried the new 333 soft compound ZZR? I very much enjoy the A24, and thought it MIGHT be worth trying.

Ah, the P2 V70R! We had an '05 6MT until 165k miles, when its slave cylinder gave up, for the 2nd time, which is inside the bellhousing of an AWD car, so quite time consuming to replace. And we sold it. I used to tow my Husqvarna supermoto behind it! Brought both kids home in it from the hospital when they were born. Even had a "prancing moose" fender badge. Good times.

Thanks for that info, Dave. Much appreciated. I tried Steve at: tracsport@hotmail.co.uk Was that the email address you successfully used to reach him?
-
Drakman, have you been able to reach Steve? I've not heard back. Perhaps I've got the wrong email address? Thanks for any info.

I have just emailed SPC Tracsport to inquire about their LSD options for stateside customers.

From what I hear, and I am certainly no authority on the matter, taking the stock Duratec much further than about 220hp requires major work and potential reliability concerns. But it's been done well and documented plenty (R500 spec). Proceed with caution, patience, guidance from a well-known Duratec engine builder, and the willingness to spend time and money on fine tuning/unforeseen issues.

I also did the roller barrel throttle bodies while I was at it. Fantastic! Some call it "420+" spec, which is what I think Josh is referring to. He got me the correct ECU map and it's great. I am plenty satisfied for now;)
-
While the parts were Caterham, they were not purchased through Caterham, so I can't really speak to the question (the cams and associated valve springs were generously donated to me by another member). Visually at least, the R400 valve springs appeared the same as those from the 360 factory units. I don't know if Caterham includes uprated rod bolts in the 420 upgrade kit.

My 2 cents: When I was ordering my kit in late 2016, I found myself thinking along the same lines... order the 360, and later upgrade to 420 spec if I desired (which, ultimately, I did). Very happy with that decision, as the lower power level allowed me to learn the car well, while still being a REALLY quick road car, and more than capable on track. After 3 yrs, I upgraded and it was (and is) a real thrill. Mid range and top end are quite strong now. It's bonkers on the street, and just right at the track. I selected the dry sump from factory, as I knew track sessions would be happening, and as others have noted, the ground clearance is appreciated. I don't think you can go wrong - both the 360 and 420 provide spectacular entertainment!

Did you say NYST on Saturday the 8th?! I really enjoy driving the Seven there; it's well-suited to our cars. If the weather holds and they're not sold out, I will aim to make it. Also, SCDA is running a Lime Rock event on Monday, Oct 10, Columbus' Day.

Mike and Tom, Your efforts to organize and execute the annual Se7ens event, year after year, is so appreciated. We have an absolute ball out on track, in the garage, and at dinner... and it all happens because you guys enable us to come together. Many, many thanks for yet another terrific event!

I've been using a MaxJax lift for about 8 years now, with no issues lifting everything from the Seven to crossover SUV's. It lifts about 4' (cars taller than the Seven won't raise as high) and fits within my 7'6" ceilings. The awful pictures are intended only to show how a tight space can still accommodate the lift.

Save The Date - Annual USA7s HPDE at NJMP - September 18-19, 2022
BlakeJ replied to Croc's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I'll be there! Thanks to the hosts for bringing the Se7ens community a fantastic annual event! -
My experience switching from the A64 ZZR to the A24 ZZR was that it made a significant difference in grip at the track. I also drive the car on the street with the A24's, but only in good weather, and don't find that street miles are wearing the tires excessively. The biggest problem I have (with both compound ZZR's) on the street is that they're don't get warm enough.

I have a new, unused set of DPR Motorsport "Caterham Slimline Roll Cage clamps - for Spa mirrors only" that fit a 32mm diameter roll cage. They're nice pieces, but unfortunately my cage is a larger diameter where the clamps fit, so I can't use them. I'd rather sell them here than ship them back to the UK for a refund, which DPR kindly offered. I paid $120 for the clamps, but would take $75 for the set. Here's the link: https://parts.dpr-motorsport.com/contents/en-uk/p106 Looking forward to driving season in the Northeast! Blake

Russ, the MaxJax only attaches to the floor by bolting it into anchors (floor must be at least 4" thick concrete). You can then remove the posts with 5 large bolts each, and roll the posts out of the way if you don't want them taking up space when not in use.
-
I've used the MaxxJax 2-post mid-rise lift for over 8 years without any problems. It will raise the vehicle about 4', so it works with my very low 7'6" ceilings. I roll around on a reclining creeper. Really love it.

I had an intermittent no-start/stall issue when I first completed my 2017 build. It turned out to have been loose wiring from the factory under the dash to the fuel pump fuse/relay. Full disclosure; an auto electrician friend of mine diagnosed the problem, not me, so I don't recall the specifics of it. Could be worth taking a look, though it sounds like perhaps you have, already.
